31/01/2014 Skiing, Excursion, Optionals, Prize giving and Presentaion
Beautiful weather today, the students pushed themselves to the limits to learn all that is possible during the week and have been skiing very very well. All of the instructors were very impressed with their groups and have had a great week instructing with them.
Upon returning back from the piste the students signed up and for the students that are leaving tomorrow morning were told to pack and the monitors came to check them out of their rooms, ensuring they are ready for their departure. After it was all sorted the students went out on optional activities, many of whom went shopping.
During the evening all of the students gathered in the Les Elfes dining room for prize giving and presentation, the students were awarded prizes from the animation staff and instructors, while being given their instructors awards. There were also other prizes to give out, such as Tidy room competition and star camper.
A great days worth skiing on the mountain today, all of the students put all of their effort in to learning new skills on the skis. Upon returning to Les Elfes the students all signed for optional activities, with some going to languages. During the evening the students had a carnival night, celebrating the up and coming Chinese new year.
Another great day of skiing the students really enjoyed the great weather and the full day worth of skiing. All of the students are trying really hard and learning very fast. Upon returning to Les Elfes all of the students signed up for optional activities, some of whom had Languages, while others went sledging. During the evening all of the students joined together after dinner and boogied on down to the disco, plenty of “new style” dancing going on, plenty of fun….
incredible amounts of powder on the slopes today, the students really enjoyed the snow conditions. For the beginners the agenda for today was to learn to snow plough to a competent level, The instructors spend time with them individually to ensure they have learned this before moving on to the next skill, the plough turn. The weather today has been pretty good, having snowed all night last night and today, leaving fresh snow all across the piste.
For the intermediate groups they were practicing Parallel turning and stopping, a skill widely used in everyday skiing.
Upon returning to Les Elfes the students had hot chocolate and snacks before signing up for optional activities, today the students had a choice of Swimming, Sledging or Staying in relaxing and playing games, some of the students had Languages.
After dinner all of the students participated in Les Elfes music video, this involved loads of dancing and singing… Great fun.
Greetings from sunny verbier ! Another week has passed and we say goodbye to many of our friends from South America, very sad, as well as our Swiss School. However, we have new arrivals all the way from Singapore, Turkey and Jordan, thus Les Elfes carries on with its cool cosmopolitan atmosphere and the fun never stops . Looking ahead the week is full of action, we have skiing and snowboarding starting tomorrow, we will have fresh snow tomorrow evening and good weather on Monday, we have the race on Wednesday, the BBQ Thursday, and Friday of course is Chinese New Year, year of the horse, so happy new year China! We even had a Television Crew all the way from Shanghai filming in Les Elfes Verbier today, we will keep you posted on the footage and I will be sending out links in due course. Our students lucky enough to be going on excursion this week will visit the Chocolate Factory in Broc as well as the sights of Lausanne. On top of all of this we have Discos, Torchlight Walks, Cooking Workshops, Swimming, Relaxing, Sleeping…. and much much more, so looking forward to another great week!! First full day of skiing for all of the student today. Many of the students have never skied before or have skied for a very short period of time, today for most of the students was about ensuring they were in the correct group for their skiing level and ability, today’s lessons began with a nice warm up, moving on to the basics of skiing, the snowplow. After teaching the students the correct way to get on and off of the lifts.
For the students that have been here a while and know how to ski correctly they are guided around the mountain by the instructors, learning the students learn more advanced techniques, improve specific areas of skiing.
Upon returning to Les Elfes all of the students had time to relax before signing up for optional activities, today choice was Swimming, Shopping and Staying at Les Elfes relaxing and playing games.
During the evening all of the students went on down to the local ice rink, firstly to watch the end of one of Verbier’s local ice hockey teams and then to go onto the ice, for some this was a new experience, the monitors were there all the way helping and teaching them how to ice skate, while others played ice hockey and enjoyed a nice social chat while ice skating, when this all had finished all of the students returned to have a nice hot chocolate and snacks before going to bed.
26/01/2014 Skiing, Arrivals, Ski fit, Verbier Hunt and Movie night
Epic weather for the skiers today, the morning began very cold but once the sun appeared, it warmed up through out the day leaving blue skies and full on sunshine on the mountains. The students had great fun today with their instructors, now learning advanced skiing/snowboarding techniques. Upon returning to Les Elfes the Individuals went on optional activities, Swimming, Shopping or relaxing playing games at Les Elfes.
Two new groups of arrivals today, upon arriving the students were shown around campus, checked into their rooms, sorted out all paper work and then went to a group meeting with Adam our resort manager, who explained all the rules and regulations of the campus. Once all this has finished the students were then taken around Verbier on a Verbier hunt, completing challenges to locate themselves around our local town.
During the evening all of the students, individuals and school groups went on downstairs to the Les Elfes cinema room to watch a movie and get to know each other.
24/01/2014 Skiing, Excursion, Optionals, Special Dinner
Good day skiing today the students had a great time on the mountain, the weather was snowing during the morning however cleared up for the afternoon. The individuals went on excursion today to the Chocolate factory and shopping in the amazing city of Geneva. The individuals returned from excursion around 7pm and then went to dinner, during the evening the students had a special dinner made their final farewells, packed their bags and prepared themselves for tomorrows departure.
Departures today after skiing, we have really enjoyed having the students here at Les Elfes and hope they return soon.
23/01/2014 Skiing, Optionals Presentation and Prize giving
Another epic day of skiing today, the students have really enjoyed their time here, during the week and have learned many core skills and some advanced skills skiing and snowboarding. Upon returning to Les Elfes the students signed up for optional activities, Swimming, Snowman building and “hard core sledging”. During the evening the students gathered in the Dining room to participate in presentation and prize giving, there were many prizes and afterwards all off the students watched the music video.
Amazing day skiing today, full on sunshine, powering through the clouds. The progression of the students has been great through the past days. Upon returning from Skiing the students had time to relax and sign up before Optional activities, swimming, sledging and making ginger bread houses.
During the evening all of the students partied on down to the disco, the night went really well and the students enjoyed their night.
During dinner we had a new small group of arrivals, the students were checked in and shown to their rooms during the evening the students were shown around Verbier.
Great day skiing today, this morning the weather was a little misty, however by mid day it had cleared and the visibility was far better. Upon returning to Les Elfes the students did sign up for optional activities, followed by dinner.
This evening the students had Clubs, a choice of Tapas (Cooking), Rock star (Music), Arts and Crafts, Photography and Hollywood (Acting).
Great day skiing today, the students really enjoyed the fresh snow. The visibility today was a little bad but this didn’t stop the students from having a great time on the mountain and learning everything that the instructors could teach them.
Upon returning from skiing the students signed up for optional activities, Swimming, shopping and stay in a Les Elfes.
Arrivals today, the students arrived and went straight to the mountain and went skiing, after a day worth of skiing the students went to their rooms, checked into their rooms and had a meeting with the resort manager, explaining all the rules or the campus.
19/01/2014 Skiing, Optionals and Ice Skating – Loads of Pictures today
Back to skiing for the individuals today, the weather was great and the students were really happy to have had the day yesterday relaxing so they feel awake and ready for some exhilarating skiing today. Once the day had finished and the students returned to Les Elfes they had some time to relax and take a rest before signing up for optional activities, Swimming, Shopping and Staying building snowmen.
As for the new group of arrivals this morning was spent ensuring they have the correct equipment and putting them into their correct groups, according to the levels and abilities. After lunch all of the students were fitted and up on the beginner slopes with the instructors showing them the basics of skiing. After skiing the group was then taken into the Town of Verbier and competed against each other in challenges whilst learning about the area.
During the evening the students all gathered together, individuals and school to go ice skating at the local ice rink, some of the students couldn’t ice skate but was taught by the monitors, while the competent ice skaters either played ice hockey or went ice skating socializing with each other.
18/01/2014 – New arrivals, Visit to Vevey, Fun Planet and Movie night
Exiting day today, the students had a day off skiing, going off to Vevey and spending the morning shopping and sight seeing around the lovely town of Vevey. After lunch the students were taken to Fun Planet, where they all went bowling and had a great time playing on some of the other games there. The students arrived for dinner and then went downstairs to have a relaxing night watching a movie in the Cinema room, popcorn all round.
New arrivals during the evening, the students arrived quite late, were very tired from travelling all day and the check in process will begin tomorrow. As for tonight they were given dinner and shown around campus and rooms, then went to bed, ready for tomorrow.
16/01/2014 Skiing, Excursion, Clubs, snowman building, Torchlight walk and Ice skating
Another great day skiing today the weather has been good and the students are really learning and skiing efficiently. All of the instructors are very impressed with their progression.
Upon returning to Les Elfes the students were given a choice of Snowman building or clubs ( Arts and crafts or Theatre), many of the students chose clubs. This continued until dinner.
After dinner the students went on a nice torchlight walk followed by Ice skating.
The individuals did something completely different for today, they went on excursion leaving at 9 this morning to Bern the capitol of Switzerland for sightseeing and shopping. The students returned around 7pm and then went straight to dine out, enjoying a nice meal in one of Verbier`s local restaurants.
15/01/2014 Skiing, Optional’s, Millionaire and Smarter than your monitor
Great day skiing today the students really enjoyed their day skiing around the mountain, some went touring around the mountain with their instructors, learning advanced skills and perfecting their technique. The weather today was very good. the sun came out for a full on goggle tan.
After skiing the students arrived back at Les Elfes for snacks and sign up for optional activities, swimming, shopping and Playing games at Les Elfes on today’s agenda.
During the evening the students separated into two groups, one of which did “are you smarter than your monitor”, competing against the monitors in General knowledge challenges. The second group participated in Who wants to be a millionaire.
14/01/2014 Skiing, Optionals, Music video and Casino
Great day on the Mountain for all groups, the students really enjoyed the fresh snow although the weather is a little cloudy, but this hasn’t stopped our students from having a great time.
Upon returning to Les Elfes the students all signed up for optional activities, many went shopping a couple went swimming and some stayed at Les Elfes and played games. We had some new arrivals today, the students were checked in quickly and efficiently, given correct ski equipment from their instructors and the given a briefing from the resort manager about the campus rules.
During the evening some of the students participated in Les Elfes music video, while others enjoyed a nice night playing casino games.
Christmas and New Year seems like a distant memory, how the time flies when your having fun.
The resort has calmed down now after the new years week period and the slopes are relatively quiet which is great for our groups.
Snow conditions are improving and we have just had around 30cm of fresh snow arrive, and as I write this the heavens have opened, clouds parted, blue sky is peeping through and the forecast tomorrow is for a bluebird day, awesome.
We wish all the free ride world tour qualifiers good luck this week, and ski safe!
Looking further ahead students are not only treated to this glorious weather, but on Thursday have the opportunity to go to BERN and revel in the beauty of Switzerlands capital. Then the weekend we have a few students arrive from Jordan, as well as groups from Switzerland and England.
13/01/2014 Skiing, Optionals, Lip dub and La Fureur
Another Perfect day in paradise today, the students all enjoyed their days skiing, all of the students have learned the basics and are moving on to advanced techniques of skiing and snowboarding, For example one of the groups have been practicing parallel turning and stopping.
Upon returning to Les Elfes all of the students, school and individuals had some time to relax and chill before signing up for optional activities. Today’s activities were swimming, shopping and Staying and relaxing playing games at Les Elfes.
During the evening the students separated into different groups, with one group participating in Lip dub, a singing and dancing movie filmed on the move, while others enjoyed a good night of La Fureur, pinning two teams against each other on music based challenges.
