28/02/2014 Skiing, Excursion, Departures, Optional s, Clubs/ La fureur
Two departures today, we have really enjoyed having the students here and hope they return soon.
Skiing for the rest of the schools today, they gathered there ski equipment and took off up onto the mountain. The individuals went off onto excursion, spending the day going to the chocolate factory and visiting Lausanne.
Upon arriving the students had some time to relax and sign up for optional activities.
After dinner the students were separated into two groups, one group planing an epic game of La fureur, competing against each other in music based challenges while the second group went to clubs. Tonight’s choice for clubs was Design and build, Arts and crafts, Tapas, Rockstar and photography.
27/02/2014 Skiing, Optionals, Presentation and prize giving
Great day on the mountain today, the students have learned alot during the week, many have gone from “zero to hero” ^, learning the most from their instructors possible. After skiing the students all returned, had some time to relax and sign up for optional activities. Swimming, shopping, staying or Sledging was on the agenda for today. During the evening the school groups and individuals separated in two, having the first older students doing prize giving first, while the others were downstairs doing watching music video and slideshow, then the students all swapped.
Skiing today, the students all put 100% into today and the instructors were very impressed, some of the students now being able to master the skill of parallel turning and stopping while others were beginning to get the hang of it and gaining as much experience from their instructors as possible.
Upon returning to Les Elfes the students all went into the dining room to have snacks and sign up for optional activities, today’s choice was swimming, shopping, snow games or stay and play epic games room tournament. Many of the students chose to stay and participate in the tournament.
During the evening all for the students, schools and individuals boogied on down to the disco, there were some “old school” style dancing mixed with some “original and fresh” moves created on the spot.
25/02/2014 Skiing, Optional`s, Clubs and La Fureur
A great days skiing today… The instructors were very impressed with the progression of the students, many of them now able to do snow-plough and are moving on to more advanced techniques. e.g Parallel turning and stopping. The weather was fantastic… full on sunshine thought the whole day with a calm gentle breeze.
Upon returning to Les Elfes the students signed up for optional activities, today’s choice, swimming, shopping, relaxing on the campus playing games and snow games.
Tonight’s choice of activities was clubs night, or La fureur. During clubs the students were given a choice of Arts and crafts, Design and build, Rockstar, photography and baking. During La fureur the atmosphere was incredible, the groups put 100% effort in to the activity.
24/02/2014 Skiing, Optionals, Dine out, Music Video and Ice Skating,
Great day skiing today, the students are really progressing well, With a couple of the groups now skiing on the mountain.
Upon returning to Les Elfes the students all signed up for optional activities, today choice, swimming, shopping, snow games or staying in Les Elfes.
During the evening we had a assortment of four activities during the evening, with one group going on dine out, one large group doing music video and another large group went down to the local ice rink to go ice skating.
A new group of arrivals today, upon arriving the school was put through he simple check in procedure, receiving their keys afterwards. A little later they were issued their ski equipment, issued by their instructors to ensure they are correctly fitted.
For most of the students on campus it was their first day of skiing today, after a group warm up the students were assessed into their level of skill in skiing/snowboarding and put into the correct group accordingly. For the students that have been skiing before it was a nice reminder on how to do the snow plough and basic turning, For the students who have never been skiing/snowboarding it was something new to learn and practice.
Upon returning back to Les Elfes all for the students signed up for optional activities, today choice was simple, Swimming, Shopping or Snowman building.
During the evening all of the students went on down to the local ice rink to go ice skating, some students were taught on how to ice skate, while others played ice hockey and just generally enjoyed socializing with other students and skating around.
22/02/2014 Skiing,Arrivals, Check-in, Verbier Hunt, Movie night
Very Early departures this morning and late last night for individuals and school groups, we hope they have had a great time here at Les Elfes, hope they return soon and have a great flight home.
Skiing for one of the groups today, it was their first day on the mountain and to ensure all of the students were separated into the correct groups the students were assessed for their individual level at skiing/snowboarding. All of the students today were shown how to do the snow plough and basic turning, for some this was a nice reminder and for others something new to learn.
Large amounts of new arrivals today, everybody regardless of if they have been here before went through the same check in procedure, beginning at reception, handing in pocket money and paperwork, flight details etc. From there the students are then shown around the campus and shown to their rooms to complete the check-in procedure and receiving their own keys, this is very important to ensure they are happy and comfortable in their rooms. From there the students are split in half, with some going on a Verbier hunt, completing challenges with a monitor locating themselves around Verbier, while the other group were getting their ski equipment correctly fitted from their instructors.
During the evening it was nice and relaxed having a movie night. the students socialized a little to get to know each other, while a few that had traveled very far and were very tired went to bed early to catch up on sleep.
Not so great weather on the mountain today, the mist came in and it was snowing most of the day. The students made the most of their last day, kept their enthusiasm high and skied throughout the day around the mountain without any issues. Once all the students returned back to Les Elfes they singed up for optional activities, before going out all of the students made sure they were packed and the monitors had checked out of their rooms. During the evening all of the students gathered in the dining room for prize giving and presentation.
Plenty of skiing in the beautiful weather today, everybody was exited about going in the sunshine today. Up on the mountain the students have been cracking on with getting all of the knowledge of skiing/snowboarding from their instructors. Once all of the students had returned from skiing they had some time to relax before signing up for optional activities (Swimming, Shopping, Staying playing games Or Snow games). The older school group returned from ski touring, went shopping, had dinner and had a prize giving to give out certificates for their hard work over the weeks skiing and touring. For the rest of the students they all went on downstairs to the cinema room to have a disco.. things got a little wild during this disco, with the students even doing a train around the downstairs of Les Elfes.
19/02/2014 Skiing, Excursion, Optional’s, La Fureur
Pretty epic day today, during the morning the older students were preparing and gathering equipment for the days ski touring and spending a night under the stars in a mountain hut on the top of the mountains.
The individuals gathered themselves in the internet room to have a meeting to be briefed on the excursion today. The students then took off in the Les Elfes buses, firstly arriving at the Callier chocolate factory, followed by the cheese factory and finally a nice afternoon shopping in Vevey.
For the remaining students they all gathered their ski equipment and took off up the mountain to spend the whole day skiing. When the students returned they signed up for optional activities, today’s choice, swimming shopping or snowman building.
During the evening the individuals joined the schools in the groups activity, La Fureur, pinning two groups against each other in music based challenges.
Another great day of skiing most of the students have now mastered the skill of stopping and standard turning and are now on to something more particular.. Parallel turning and stopping. The advanced groups began moving more around the mountain, trying out the different pistes and learning different techniques involved in different environments.
Upon returning to Les Elfes all of the students signed up for optional activities, many of them stayed and made a giant sledge run with he supervision of the monitors, others went shopping or swimming.
During the evening the students were given the options of Design and build, Photography, Arts and crafts, Tapas and Rockstar, the clubs went very well and the students had learned something different from each group.
17/02/2014 Skiing, Optionals, Music video and Dine out
Incredible weather today, the forecast said it would be cloudy but the sun shone through leaving bright blue clear skies. The students were very happy during the day, the progression of the students is very good, many of the students getting the hang of stopping and turning.
Upon returning to Les Elfes the students signed up for optional activities, today’s choice was swimming, shopping or snowman building.
During the evening the students participated in music video, while a group went on dine out to a local restaurant.
16/02/2014 Skiing, optionals, Ice skating and Music Video
Great first day of skiing today the students, the students were told to be prepared and ready, outside at 0845, the excitement of the students was incredible roughly 90% of the students were ready and outside with boots on at 0820. Once on to the bus all of the students were taken to the beginner slopes to be assessed for their level of skill in snowboarding and skiing, it is essential that we get this correct to ensure they are skiing at the right level in the correct group.
The students all started with a relaxing warm up before moving on to the basics of stopping and turning. For the students that have already skied before they brushed over the basics again and then learned about more advanced techniques, beginning with parallel turning and stopping
upon returning from skiing all of the students had some time to relax before signing up for optional activities, today choices was swimming, shopping or staying at Les Elfes relaxing and playing games.$
During the evening many of the students gathered together to go ice skating, some participated in Les Elfes music video and will be ice skating tomorrow night.
15/02/2014 Skiing, Arrivals, Verbier hunt, Movie and cards night
All of the individuals went skiing today, the students have progressed really well and their instructors are very very impressed with them, upon returning the students had the option of sign up, all of them chose to stay and play cards.
Pretty busy day at Les Elfes, with three arrivals but one of whom went straight to the Chateau de Chillion spending a day there before arriving at Les Elfes. The other arrivals were very tired, after long flights and being picked up from Geneva airport the students arrived at Les Elfes, first thing for the students was a routine check in, checking the students in to their rooms and being shown around the campus. Afterwards was an arrivals speech with the resort manager Adam. The students were then all taken downstairs to be issued everything they will need for their week, skis, snowboard, boots, and clothing. While this was happening some of the students were taken around a guided tour around Verbier, completing challenges and visiting shops.
During the evening the students were given the choice of either, movie night, cards night or going to sleep if they are very tired and jet lagged.
Everyone is exited for their first day of skiing tomorrow.
14/02/2014 Skiing, Optionals/ Packing, Presentation and prize giving
Last day skiing for many of the students, they used their last day to the max.. pushing the boundaries of learning and gathering all of the information possible from their instructors to get the best possible time skiing on their last day. One of the groups had half a day skiing due to departing from Les Elfes very early in the morning.
Upon returning to Les Elfes the students signed up for optional activities, Today choice was simple… Swimming, Shopping or Staying. Most of the students chose staying in at Les Elfes and relaxing. All of the students had to pack their bags and ensure everything was prepared for their departure before going on optional activities.
During the evening the students all gathered together to participate in presentation, music video and prize giving, there were selected students chosen for being very good over the duration of their stay and were given prizes. There were also skiing and Snowboarding certificates given out from their instructors and other special prizes.
The individuals went skiing during the day, once returning they had optional activities, all of the individual students went shopping. During the evening the students went on dine out, spending a nice evening out with a monitor enjoying dinner at a restaurant of their choice.
13/02/2014 Skiing, Optionals, La Fureur and Werewolf night
Interesting day of skiing today, the weather had been snowing all day pretty hard, there was plenty of fresh snow to be had everywhere, even on the piste, this made learning to ski all the more fun. For more advanced skiers they took this as a advantage to learn different ways to ski and snowboard, skiing and snowboarding in different weather is a great foundation to becoming a good skier/ snowboarder. Further up the mountain the better the weather was, having blue skies very high up.
Once returning to Les Elfes the students signed up and had some time to relax before optional activities, today choice was swimming, shopping, staying, playing games or baking.
during the evening most of the students gathered together with one group staying in Les Elfes 2 to have a scary story telling, card game Werewolf night. The other students participated in La Fureur, music based challenges pinning two groups against each other.
All of the groups except one went on excursion this morning to the cheese and chocolate factory, followed by a nice day shopping in lausanne The group that stayed used it to their advantage and took off up the mountain with the instructors to spend the day in the sunshine skiing. Once the group finished skiing they had some time to relax and all chose to go shopping until dinner.
After dinner all of the students had a nice disco, with food, confetti and our very own DJ to top off the amazing atmosphere.
Another great day skiing today, the students enjoyed their day on the piste, many of the students have now mastered the snow plough and have moved on to parallel turning and stopping.
Once returning the students signed up for optionals activities, today choice was swimming, shopping or snowman building. A few of the students had language lessons during this time.
Tonight’s evening activity was clubs night, having the choices of Tapas, Arts and crafts, Photography and Engineering, the students all chose and separated into their chosen groups, it was good to see different schools and individuals working together.
Second day of skiing today, the students were all really exited about getting onto the slopes. For today’s session of skiing the students had a relaxing warm up and then went back over the basics of skiing and the snow plough. For the students that were beginning to master this skill they were given another task to practice.
Upon returning from the piste the students had some time to relax, have snacks and sign up for optional activities, on today’s agenda we had swimming, staying and relaxing or sledging. Many of the students chose sledging.
During the evening the students all gathered into the Cinema room to be explained on the evening activity, Music video. During music video the students danced, had a bit of a sing and attempted to recreate the video of a chosen song. We were very impressed with the participation of the groups during tonight’s activity
