Thursday 31st March – Skiing, Snowboarding, Prize Giving, Disco!!!
Wednesday 30th – Skiing, Snowboarding, Chalet Night and Clubs!
Tuesday 29th March Skiing, Snowboarding, Music Challenge, Baking and NEW ACTIVITY Manhunt!
It was a nice morning on the slopes with some new snow making conditions just that little bit fluffier. Many of our newbies progressed to the mountain for the first time and some have even graduated to using poles and chairlifts at the same time!! Our advanced groups have been learning to carve, starting with J turns and trying out some 180s.
After skiing the groups split for swimming, shopping, games at camp and escape rooms in town with one group escaping with a whopping 10minute left on the clock. A great achievement!!
After dinner the groups had a choice again. Our individuals chose between a relaxing movie night or a cookie baking competition while our schools chose between two rather lively option. Option 1 was the ever-popular, ever-crazy Les Elfes music challenge while option 2, brand new to Les Elfes, was Manhunt night with a range of sneaky hide and seek games outside around the campus. It was a great night of mixing and working with students from other schools and lots of fun was had by all.
Easter Monday 28th March Skiing, Snowboarding, Ice Skating, Escaping and Music Video
Another fantastic day on the slopes today with many of our beginners progressing so well that they will graduate to skiing and snowboarding on the mountain tomorrow. For our more advanced skiers and snowboarders it was a great opportunity to really appreciate the vast scope of the resort with much better visibility than yesterday. All of the groups have continued to approach their skiing and snowboarding with smiles and enthusiasm and it has been really great to see them enjoying themselves.
This afternoon the students had lots of choices with language lessons, swimming, shopping, games at camp and some even choosing to accept the escape room challenge in town.
After dinner we had a big range of activities again with our newer individuals escaping, or at least trying to within 60 minutes, our Hong Kong schools went Ice Skating and our remaining two schools worked together with the existing individuals to create an energetic and creative music video which we will watch at the end of the week.
27th March – Skiing, Snowboarding, Ice Skating and Music Video
Friday 26th – Departure & Arrival Day, Skiing, Movie Night!
Today, it has been very sad to see some of our lovely students leave us. After a great week or two with us, it was time for them to pack their bags and say their goodbyes to some great friends made during their stay as well as their instructors and monitors. We hope you have had great time and hopefully see you back at les elfes soon!
On the other hand though, we have been super busy all day with the arrivals of new schools and individuals which is very exciting and marks a new week. After a speedy ski fit, ensuring they are all ready for their first day on the slopes tomorrow, the students had the chance to chill out and relax at les elfes as well as visiting the local village, to get to know their new surroundings. Outside, we had a good game of volleyball, making the most of the beautiful blue sky and sunshine in Verbier. This evening, they then had the chance to wind down with a movie in our cinema room, or catch an early night after a very long day of travelling.
For one school that had arrived the day before, they had the pleasure of getting out on to the mountain and taking part in their first ski lessons of the week! For those that are new to the sport, headed to les essert, the beginner slope to get to grips with being on skies and learning the basic moves. It has been an extremely hot day here, so jackets came off as the students tried hard to take in all the information from their enthusiastic ski instructors. After a lovely lunch outdoors, some of the groups were already heading up higher, to challenge themselves even further, impressing us all.
Our individual students had a slightly different day today, as they have already been here a week. They made the most of a mini lie in, a well deserved treat for all of them, and after lunch they made their way to Martigny for a competitive game of bowling. All the students had great fun, and enjoyed a break from the slopes, where they could chill out with their friends and have a good laugh. Back at camp they were joined by our new campers and have headed off to their chalets for a good nights sleep before hitting the mountain for a second week!
Friday 25th – Skiing, snowboarding, prize giving
Tuesday 22nd march 2016 – Skiing, Optional activities, Clubs night and Escape room
An incredible blue bird sky day today…. with bright sunshine beaming down on the students faces as they progress in skiing/snowboarding and learn more and more throughout the day. The snow conditions although looking very minimal at low level, up on the mountain is great, with snow perfect for snow plow, parallel and even carving.
After returning from skiing, the student removed their boots allowing their feet to have a break before going upstairs to sign up for afternoon and evening activities. The choices of afternoon activities were shopping, snow games or epic games indoors. Many of the students went shopping after taking a relaxing shower and having some snacks… a few decided to go outside, not getting enough snow and making full use of their winter holiday in Verbier by going sledging and snowman building. This then left just around 10 students who decided to play a game of action packed extreme Uno.. pinning each individual against each other, eventually bringing a winner.
During the evening the students had a wide choice of activities, including cooking, arts and crafts, Photography, Design and build and for some the students went down to the escape room, where the group have a series of challenges to move from one room to another.
Sunny Weather and Great Fun!!
Sunday 20th – Arrivals, skiing, ice skating, music video & torchlight walk
We had another group arrive today so great to see some new faces joining us for the week. They have all been ski fitted with equipment and are eager to get out onto the mountain tomorrow. It was all go for the rest of the campers here who had a brilliant time riding around Verbier and Savoleyres with the instructors. The beginners had a tiring but fun day learning with the hard work paying off as they all seriously improved.
On return from the mountain they were all welcomed with hot chocolate and snacks because choosing their afternoon activities. Some chose to chill and play ping pong and pool in the games room, others went to town for a crepe and a milkshake while a few went to the swimming pool to splash about and relax tired muscles in the jacuzzi.
This evening there was two different activities. Half of the campers went to the ice rink for some skating and ice hockey which was great fun. Many who had never skated before started to pick it up and become more confident which was fantastic to see. Back at Les Elfes it was music video night! The groups tonight made some amazing choreographies to Taylor Swifts ‘Shake It Off’ before coming together to do some JustDance!
It has been a brilliant day and everyone is looking forward to what tomorrow brings.
Meanwhile in Le Chable…
Our campers have started their week of skiing with full steam ahead. One group of our beginners, with some students who had never even seen snow until this week have progressed so quickly that they will be heading to the mountain on only day 2 of skiing!!!!! Our other beginner group is progressing really quickly too and we’re expecting them to join the others after a little more time at Les Esserts. We also have many groups this week with a high level of ability in skiing and snowboarding, which is great to see and we’re hoping those groups will use this week to really refine their technique and explore the vast expanse of the resort here and in the 4 Vallées!
After skiing and snowboarding today our campers had a chance to visit Verbier for some shopping and to explore the town before a really nice dinner of chicken fajitas. After dinner we had a scenic torchlight walk around the village of Le Chable visiting the old town to see the rustic houses and the beautiful church before finishing with some marshmallows on the BBQ.
Both of our schools are doing a fantastic job of mixing and making new friends from other countries and even other continents and already the lines between the schools at meals and on the slopes have begun to blur! We anticipate a GREAT week ahead!
March 19th – Arrival day, Ski fit, Town, Snow Activities and Movie Night
It’s been a busy day today with plenty of departures and arrivals. It was sad to say goodbye to the children that left but it has been great fun getting to know all our new students who will be joining us for a week or two!
We kicked off the day with ski fitting, to ensure everyone is equipped and ready for their first day on the mountain. Everyone is hugely excited about hitting the slopes, and it sounds as though we are going to have some good skiers among us, as well as a few first timers. After getting everything sorted, we headed in to Verbier village, to show them all the main attractions and places to shop and eat. The sun was shining, so it was a beautiful walk surrounded by beautiful scenery. Back at Les Elfes the children were excited to get outside and play in the snow, as they don’t see much of it in their home countries. We had a snow man competition as well as a few snow ball fights for a laugh.
After a delicious dinner, some students chose to watch a movie and chill out downstairs whilst others with more energy played table tennis and table football. It definitely got quite competitive at times. We can see the students already mixing together well and getting to know each other which is great to see. For some who had been travelling all day, the exhaustion took over and there were some early nights in camp, meaning they will be on top form tomorrow after a good nights sleep.
Friday 18th March – Last day & Prize Giving
What a week it has been here at Les Elfes, and it is such a shame it has come to an end. We have had some wonderful students stay with us, who have learnt a huge amount on and off the mountain. Today, with the sun shining brightly yet again, some of our groups took to the mountain for the last time. They are now conquering some very hard runs which shows just how much they have improved technically as well as gaining a lot of confidence in doing so, which is brilliant to see. For those that hadn’t done much skiing before they arrived, are now flying down blue and red runs and having lot’s of fun out on the snow. Our advanced students have also set the bar high and pushed themselves, whilst skiing and snowboarding in new areas and learning from our instructors massively. We are all super impressed with everyone’s effort this week.
Unfortunately, back at Les Elfes it was time for everyone to start packing and for one of our groups to depart back to school in Switzerland. After a mini prize giving of awards and praise from their instructors, they set off on their short journey home. It has been great having them here and we hope to see them all again soon. Some of our remaining students decided to head in to town, with a nice walk in the sunshine. Others chose to chill out and play some games at Les Elfes.
Tonight, after dinner, we held another prize giving to congratulate all the hard work put in this week. Their were medals given out for our weekly race day, along with star camper prizes and tidy room competition! It was great to hear some more stories of their time here and see everyone smiling and enjoying themselves. After the awards, we finished off the night with a slideshow of pictures and videos, a perfect way to reflect on all the activities carried out!
We hope everyone has had the best week ever, as we sure have enjoyed ourselves and it has been lovely getting to know each individual. We hope you all return next year 🙂
Thursday 17th – Race day, BBQ, Disco & Dine Out
Wednesday 16th – Departures, arrivals, skiing, excursion & Music Quiz
Tuesday 15th – Skiing & Les Elfes Clubs Night
March 14th – Skiing and Snowboarding in the Sun! Ice Skating and Music Video
Today we woke up to more beautiful blue skies and the sun shinning. Everyone was super kean to get back out on the slopes, and start skiing again! All the children are putting in heaps of effort which is paying off quickly, with some good techniques coming along and lot’s of blue and red runs being completed. For those that are still learning, they had a fun day at Les Esserts, and are mastering their snowplow turns with grace. Keep up the good work everyone!
Just before lunch we had a new school arrive, who were raring to get out their in the sunshine and show off their skills. They have some excellent skiers who are impressing their instructors massively and have already covered a lot of the mountain in their first afternoon.
Back at les elfes, there were plenty more activities on offer for the children to carry on with fun and games into the afternoon. Some wanted to chill out and relax after a busy day skiing, but for those with a bit more energy, headed into the local village to visit some of the shops and of course the legendary milk bar some delicious milk shakes and crepes. Yum!
Tonight we had a mixture of activities going on for the different groups on campus. For our new arrivals, they took a short walk after dinner to the ice skating rink which was great fun and enjoyed by everyone. We played ice hockey, did some synchronized skating and made a massive conga line! A great first evening activity for them. For those that have already been here a few days, they enjoyed the music video. They busted out their moves to Sigala Sweet Loving and choreographed their own dances.
Sunday 13th March 2016 Skiing, Languages, Raclette & Ice Skating
What a stunning day! This morning the sun was shining as the students left the camp with their instructors, caked in sun-cream in anticipation of a fantastic day of lessons. We have many returning students here with the school this week and it is great to see students who have spent 4 years with us progressing through the levels in their ski groups and starting to look almost like instructors when they ski. Great work!
For our beginners today also, what a fantastic day to really build a passion for skiing, to soak up the breath-taking views from the resort and to enjoy some of the best snow conditions ever.
After skiing most students went to the village for a spot of souvenir and snack shopping before a sociable Swiss evening meal of Raclette. What better place to enjoy a raclette than Val de Bagnes?!
Full of cheese and donning smiles, gloves and helmets the group headed out for ice skating, with some learning for the first time and others practicing their ice hockey skills. It was really nice to see some of our more skillful students coaching the beginners to skate. A really nice start to the week!
Friday 11th – Skiing, snowboarding, departures & prize giving
Another beautiful sunny day here in Verbier with the groups enjoying their last runs out on the mountain. There has been so much improvement since the start of the week and everyone is now competent and confident in getting down blue slopes with many easily skiing down reds and blacks as well! The instructors have been super impressed with all their hard work and effort, so well done to everyone.
One School sadly departed us at lunch, so we wish them all a safe journey home. For those that returned from skiing, it was time to enjoy a good snack and chill out, before continuing with activities. It was their last chance to head into town to buy those all important souvenirs for family and friends back home and of course stock up on their supply of delicious Swiss chocolate.
One of our schools plus our individual campers today skipped a day on the slopes to instead visit the wonderful Chocolate and Cheese factories. This is a great way to see a different part of Switzerland and see what the country is so famous for. They all absolutely loved it, and the chocolate factory was definitely a highlight and a good way to spend their last day. For lunch, they visited the beautiful Castle Chateau de Chillion with lovely scenery.
Tonight, after dinner it was time to congratulate all the students on their efforts during the week. Prizes were given out for star campers, people who have been very helpful, polite and just great to be around throughout their stay. Medals were also awarded to the fastest people from race day, so their were some huge smiles on the children’s faces. All the staff have had the best week, so thank you to everyone who made it special, and a week to remember. To round off the night, we all settled in the Cinema room to watch a slideshow of the memories created through the week along with the super funny music video which we have all been waiting for!!
Fantastic day on and off the slopes!
Snowy weather means great fun!
