Saturday 21st July – Languages, International Day and Evening Activities

Another incredible day in Les Elfes Verbier has just come to a close. The students woke up to a slightly cloudy and rainy day but we did not let that dampen their spirits. After a healthy breakfast languages were underway!

At 12:15, International day was gearing up as the students were greeted with an incredible international feast, beautifully made by our superb kitchen staff. After eating more than they could manage the kids then divided into their 3 groups, Discoveries, Explorers and Pioneers.

The 2 youngest groups were then split into Les Elfes 1 and 2. Their they were divided into groups based of their nationalities or countries thez called home. Working in teams the kids were tasked with creating posters explaining their countries, from flags and languages to national dress, dances and fun facts. The face paint was also brought out and we all know what happened with that. After everyone was covered in paint and the posters where done, the groups presented their countries to the rest of the students, resulting in a very informative afternoon.

Our oldest group the Pioneers had the chance to go to the incredible sports centre where they were able to participate in sports such as rock climbing, hockey, football and team games. Generally resulting in an amazing day.

The groups where then reunited for flexi time where everyone had the chance to go to the pool or go into town and returned for a much needed dinner at 7.

After an amazing chicken dinner the 3 groups split up again for evenings activities. The discoveries had a chance to use their cooking skills to make cookies. After an exciting, slightly messy evening the cookies are in the oven and the discoveries are in bed dreaming about them. The explorers had a chilled evening watchingĀ  Home Alone and eating popcorn. Finally the Pioneers had quiz night!

Everyone is now off to bed for some well deserved sleep and to get ready for another fun filled day here in Verbier!

The children of Les Elfes woke up to another amazingly sunny and hot day, excited, not only because they did not have languages (even though languages are the best) but they had a chance to explore other parts of Switzerland! After a great breakfast the three groups departed on their adventures.

Our youngest campers went on what could be considered the best excursion as they were able to visit the Chocolate and Cheese Factory and a cultural and shopping visit to Guyre! After eating maybe to much cheese and chocolate the discoveries returned back to came happy and with their arms laiden with shopping.

Our middle group of Explorers were lucky enough to experience the amazing Olympic Museum and shopping in Lausanne! After learning all about the history of the olympics from ancient Greece to modern day the kids were able play the games in the museum and then left to fill their shopping needs in Lausanne!

Finally our oldest group were able to experience to the wonders of Geneva and the educational experience of the United Nations. After learning the ways the UN functions, the Pioneers were able to explore and shop in Geneva.

With excursion over, the kids returned to Les Elfes tired but happy. They then participated in a mini prize giving as Les Elfes had to say goodbye to a few campers.

Finally the evening activities where underway. The discoveries where able to write postcards to their families. The explorers were split into 2 groups and while one group learnt new skills in casino night, the others had to solve their way out of locked rooms in the escape rooms. Another sunny day welcomed the students of Session 4 to the stunning Les Elfes Verbier! Throughout the day the Les Elfes staff welcomed around 100 new students, resulting in 120 kids on campus, giving us the largest session of this summer!

While the new students where arriving, the students staying from last session enjoyed a relaxing day at the pool. They then returned to camp at 3 pm to meet the new students. By this time most of the new kids had arrived, found their rooms and where relaxing, either playing games (football, basketball, volleyball) outside or playing board games inside.Ā

The Verbier hunt then began, where groups of children, accompanied by staff went to explore Verbier Village, giving the new students the opportunity to familiarize with the town that will be their home for the next 2 to 3 weeks.

They then return back to camp for meetings in the three groups, Discoveries, Explorers and Pioneers. After learning the rules of the camp and meeting their group monitors the kids enjoyed an amazing meal.

Finally the day ended with the new groups of Discoveries, Explorers and Pioneers playing team building games to get to know everyone. After an energetic 2 hours the students went off to bed, ready for a good night sleep to prepare for an exciting day tomorrow.

Let Session 4 commence!
