Our students on excursion went first visiting the Chocolate Factory of Maison Cailler , then went on with the Cheese Factory of “Maison du Gruyère”. In the afternoon, they had the opportunity to do some shopping in the town of Vevey.

Monday 22nd of January, arrival and excursion day.

Hi everyone, hope you’re having a good day as much as we do !

Unfortunately the montain was closed today due to high avalanches risks so we had to modify our schedule a bit. Because of theses high risks on the slopes we had to use our back up solution : excursions !

Therefore some of our kids left to the Charlie Chaplin museum, some others went to the Nestlé museum and the others went to Bern. After their picnic they all kids had a bit of time to go shopping in the cities their were at. They all came back around 6pm and had a bit of extra free time to chill before dinner.

Our new arrivals got there around midday, just on time for delicious lasagnas for lunch. Right after that they all went to the sport center to play games such as dodge ball, hockey, basketball and finally practice on their trampoline skills. The next step of the day was to handle the organisation of the ski gears, followed by one of our favourite games : La Fureur.

When all the groups were back from excursion we had a a nice dinner out in town!

See you tomorrow !!

Another great day at Les Elfes ended and all our little campers are about to fall asleep after these tiring but amazing activities and excursions.

Our bunch of kids had three options concerning the activities of the day :

The first option they had was to go in excursion in Evian (France), followed by the visit of the famous Olympic Museum, and finally ending with some shopping in Lausaunne to bring a few typical presents to family and friends.

The second group chose the excursion to the chocolate factory, which was apparently really huge and impresive. Right after that they had the chance to do a bit of shopping in the enormous Chrismas Market of Lausanne.

For the ones who were keen to go skiing the third option was perferct, all day on the slopes riding and having loads of fun with their favourite instructors.

Cow fights

CowTo discover the “queens of the mountains” – the famous Hérens cows – the famous rituals known as inalpes (leading the cows up to the alpine pastures) and désalpes (leading them down again) are truly magical traditional experiences.

Cow fighting is a traditional Swiss event, mostly in Valais, in which a cow fights another cow. Each year, the Swiss canton of Valais hosts a series of cow fights known as combats de reines (“queen fights”), which began in the 1920s and has drawn as many as 50,000 spectators in a year.

The winner is called La Reine des Reines (“the queen of queens”) and increases dramatically in value. At the end of the year, a grand final is held in Martigny, where the six best from seven districts do battle in six weight categories.
