Monday, 15th of April. Skiing, snowboarding, flexi time and torchlight walk!
The kids were eager to get on the slopes before it all melts in this warm spring. It was a sunny day with great visibility, so improvements in technique could still be made with their fantastic instructors!
Once they came back from their lessons, they chose between do some shopping at the village, do rock climbing at the Sport Center or stay at the campus relaxing and playing boardgames. Another group went to study languages during the afternoon.
After a dinner of delicious rice, veggies and turkey, some of them got their jackets on and went on a torchlight walk up the mountain. Those who stayed at camp watched a movie until it was time for bed.
Thursday, 11th of April: ski race, skiing, snowboarding, free time and Disco!
Most of our individuals woke up today excited because is Race day, the day when they can show all of their skills and their strong competition to win the gold medal. After lunch, they had fun skiing or snowboarding a bit more before come back to the camp.
After a delicious snack and hot chocolate, they recovered themselves of this cold and foggy day and then they chose between bake some cookies or go shopping.
At night, they enjoyed one of the best nights, with all of our kids from the main campus, it’s disco night at Etoile Rouge!
Tuesday 9th April: Skiing, Climbing, Dine Out & Torchlight Walk!!
With snow having recently fallen, the kids were eager to get on the slopes before it all melts in this warm spring. It was a sunny day with great visibility, so improvements in technique could still be made with their fantastic instructors!
As they all started coming from the mountain, they either went climbing in the sports centre, went to language class, explored the village or stayed and relaxed at camp.
After after a dinner of delicious tortillas and sushi, for those who went on dine out, most got their jackets on and went on a torchlight walk up the mountain. Those who stayed at camp watched a movie until it was time for bed.
This morning was a lot brighter and the children had loads of fun skiing and snowboarding through heaps of powder and learning how to parallel turn.
This afternoon back at camp there were plenty of activitities on offer, including shopping, playing games and snowman building. Some of the students had languages in the village. Tonight after a delicious dinner the children had the option to either sledge or take part in our casino night which involved a friendly game of poker, uno, jungle speed and cards.
Sunday 17th – Ski day, arrival day and sports centre for Medran Campus!
We have been blessed with another beautifully sunny day here in Verbier. For those already on camp, it was another great day of skiing, and another tasty lunch on the mountain. After skiing, as the skiers came back and got ready for activities at the main campus, another school arrived at Medran to begin their Verbier adventure. The students who had just arrived unpacked, and had dinner at Medran Campus, whilst the others stayed at the main campus for their dinner. This evening we went to the sport centre for games and activities.
Friday 15th Last day skiing, prize giving and time to say goodbye!
When the kids woke up this morning, exhausted from the intense weak of skiing and other activities, their spirits were lifted by the beautiful sunny day that awaited them. A quick breakfast, boots and helmets on, and off they went again to battle the mountains one last time!
Alas, this week has come and gone too quickly, and when the kids came back from skiing, it was already time to start packing. Some headed into town for some last minute souvenir shopping and a tasty crepe. Yet, the wisest of them saved their hungry bellies for traditional Swiss raclette, a well-deserved meal for this wonderful group who gave 100% throughout the week!
Finally, it was time to show them the highlights of the week, their entertaining Music Video, Pictures and most importantly our prize giving ceremony, that revealed the winners of the big ski race amongst other prizes.
It has been a great week at Les Elfes, and we will surely miss this group! For now, we bid them farewell and hope to see them again next year!
11th April – Skiing, Snowboarding, Ice Skating,Baking, Dine out and Torch Light Walk
Another brilliant day out on the mountain for all our groups in Verbier. Some of our beginner groups who have already mastered their snow plough turns and stops hit the chair lift for the first time which is a great achievement considering it’s only their third day skiing and snowboarding. Our more advanced groups today had the chance to explore a new area and headed off to the four valleys. There were some tricky slopes to conquer but they all did amazing and impressed their instructors massively.
Back at camp this afternoon we had various activities on offer. Some children went Ice skating and made cookies whilst others made the most of the nice weather and wandered into town to treat themselves to milkshakes and crepes. As well as this we had outdoor and indoor games at camp.
Tonight our individuals had a great time on Dine out in town! For our schools, they enjoyed a torchlight hike up the mountain and took in the views of Verbier at night.
Sunday 9th April – Ski camp, village, relaxing walk & Ice skating
It has been a beautiful sunny day here in Verbier with lots going on for our new groups. It was the schools first day on the mountain and they were all super excited to get out and meet their instructors for the week. They all got on really well and were very happy with the progress made.
On return to camp we welcomed our campers back with hot chocolate and snacks and signed them up for optional activities this afternoon. Some opted to go on a relaxing walk up the mountain where as the rest headed into town to check out the shops.
Tonight we welcomed one more arrival who were ski fitted and then had a movie night to chill and relax. The rest of camp visited the ice rink for some fun skating around and a game of ice hockey! It has been a brilliant day and we are all looking forward to tomorrows activities.
Friday 31st March. Ski race, Prize giving and packing.
Crans Montana. Friday 31st of March.
All the campers woke up on their final day of skiing to beautiful blue skies. All the ski instructors have been highly impressed, the beginners have managed to accomplish their first red run which is a major achievement. The advanced groups has conquered the glacier run with great skill and style whilst improving their technique. In the afternoon all the groups participated in the ski race, which showed us some amazing new little ski racers.
This afternoon all the campers came back for hot chocolate and snacks. We then had prize giving where the results from the ski race where announced and special prizes given out. There where smiley faces all around at prize giving. Packing and games followed. All the instructors and animators have had an amazing week teaching these campers.
Looking forward to our last night with these campers and looking forward to welcoming are new set of campers tomorrow.
We have had a fantastic day to highlight the end of a brilliant with our schools and individuals here on camp. Everyone was full of energy this morning and ready to get out skiing for the last time. They have improved tremendously since the start of the week and their attitude on and off the slopes has seriously impressed both the instructors and animation staff.
This afternoon we had outdoor and indoor games as well as town to buy those all important souveniers. One group also enjoyed a milkshake at the milk bar and had a look round the free ride world tour stalls in the village. This evening we all celebrated everyones achievements at tonights prize giving. The instructors awarded medals for yesterdays ski race as well as special prizes. The animation team gave out prizes for this weeks star campers and the tidiest rooms. Afterwards it was time to head down to the cinema room to watch the slideshow and the music video. We have had a brilliant week and want to thank our campers here for their enthusiasm and energy and hope to see them again next year!
30th March – Skiing, Snowboarding, Race Day, BBQ and Disco!
Today has been full of action with our ski race taking place in La Chaux. All our groups had the opportunity to take part in an exciting slalom style race, where they were competing for a first place position with the quickest time. Everyone had a great time, and are now eager to find out their results which we will reveal at our prize giving on Friday. After they were treated to a lovely BBQ in the sunshine, enjoying the views and of course the food! What a day!
Back at camp on of our schools headed out to enjoy a milkshake and a crepe at Café in town, a great way for them to socialise and laugh about their funny moments so far. Others chose to do some souvenir shopping, buying presents for friends and family back home whilst the rest chilled out at camp and made the most of the great weather by playing games outside.
Tonight everyone had lots of fun at our weekly disco. Everyone had been looking forwards to it and it great seeing everyone smiling and dancing away with old and new friends!
Crans Montana. Thursday 30th March. 149 726
Another action packed day in Crans Montana; with a full day skiing on the mountain for all the campers. We had beautiful warm sunny weather here which all the campers enjoyed. The beginner groups continue to improve; with the intermediate groups impressing their instructors at every turn.
Everyone came back for hot chocolate and snacks; then this afternoon we hosted a wii and table football competition, which all the campers enjoyed. Followed by the legendary disco held at the pub in Crans town. We had some amazing dancers this year, with everyone pulling out their best moves.
All the campers are looking forward to their last day of skiing in Crans Montana.
Thursday 23.03.17- Skiing, Snowboarding, Town, Egg Drop Challenge, Swimming, Games, Disco
Today was a bit cloudier here on camp but it didn’t stop any of the campers having an amazing day. The instructors are very pleased with everyone’s improvement today and the children also took part in an exciting ski race. We will find out the results tomorrow evening!
After skiing everyone had snacks and signed up for activities. The younger children participated in an egg drop challenge where they had to protect an egg with materials and then they dropped it off one of the balconies to see if it survived. Lots of campers decided to just chill at camp and play in the games room as well as card games. Some people decided to go to town to get some more souvenirs. A couple of campers went to the pool for a relaxing swim.
In the evening after dinner we had a Disco in our cinema room. Everyone really enjoyed dancing the night away. Some of the older children decided to play some card games upstairs and a casino night.
12th March – Skiing, Snowboarding, Swimming, Cooking, Ice Skating & Games
Today has been a brilliant first day in Verbier with all the children having lots of fun, learning new things and getting to know each other. This morning we took over the beginner slope, with our first time skiers and snowboarders learning to turn and stop. They have progressed massively already and are listening closely to their instructors. Up the mountain our more advanced groups got to know their surroundings and explored many parts of the mountain including Mont Fort.
Back at camp we had a very busy afternoon with plenty of activities on offer. These included swimming, cooking, games, football and a trip to town. This evening we went ice skating followed by hot chocolate back at camp, as well games and a music quiz.
10.03.17- Skiing, Snowboarding, Swimming,Town, The Cube
Today was the last day of skiing for most of the campers because sadly they will be leaving tomorrow. The weather has been really sunny so it was the best day to do the last bit of skiing.
In the afternoon everyone packed their suitcases but also did lots of fun activities like swimming and last minute souvenir shopping in town.
In the evening everyone got very competitive in a game show called the cube where two teams competed against each other to win points for their team. It worked on the children’s team work, coordination, agility and speed! After an active evening everyone had an early night as they have long days travelling back home tomorrow. Thank you for being amazing!
9th March – Skiing, Snowboarding, Sledging, Prize Giving and Disco
This morning everyone was up and ready to go skiing and snowboarding early, excited about the ski race on the mountain. Everyone who took part did so amazingly and the competition was high. For one of our school groups it was their last day on the mountain and so made the most of their time, whizzing down run after run.
This afternoon we had a mixture of activities, with a cooking club, a movie and of course, unfortunately packing. We were also back out in the snow sledging and having a crazy time creating new runs to see who could get the fastest tracks.
Tonight we had a busy evening with prize giving and a disco. All the instructors were at camp revealing those important race results and awarding medals and prizes to the most improved skiers. After the children had the chance to dance the night away at our Disco which was super fun and a lovely way to spend their last evening with their friends.
4th March – Skiing, Snowboarding, Departure day and Arrival day.
We said a sad goodbye to many of our schools on camp today and most of our individuals. We had an amazing week with them but it was now time to welcome a new school and individuals. After a long day of travelling, they still arrived with plenty of excitement and to the pleasant surprise of falling snow! After ski fitting they were straight outside having fun and games in the snow. For our existing school, they had their first day on the mountain and did amazingly. They have already impressed their instructors and are learning fast. Well done guys.
Tonight we had a mixture of activities. We had a chilled evening with movies and games for our new arrivals whilst our other school put their brains to the test with a Who Wants To Be a Millionaire game show. It’s now time for an early night, ready for a big day tomorrow.
3rd March – Skiing, Snowboarding, Last Day, Prize Giving
All our school groups and individuals have had an amazing last day up the mountain and have achieved so much over the last week. Some of our campers arrived less than a week ago, never having seen snow or been on ski’s before and are now parallel turning down blue and red runs. We hope they are super proud of their accomplishment. For our advanced skiers, today they faced the challenge of Tortan and did so brilliantly with ease and style. Back at camp it was time for most of our groups to unfortunately hand back their equipment until next year.
This afternoon we had some last minute present buying in town, shopping for souvenirs for friends and family back home. The children were also busy packing and playing games with their friends.
Tonight we ended the week on a high with prize giving. All the instructors came in to hand out their certificates and medals, to those who had won the race! We have all had an amazing week with everyone, so thank you for being awesome and we hope to see you all again soon!
1st March – Snow, Skiing, Cinema, Crans vs. Montana, Snowboarding and Excursion Day!
Day 4 was off to a fantastic start, all throughout breakfast the kids could see the fresh snow falling as they geared up for the day. All groups were able to make it up the mountain to enjoy a full day of powder.
Once returning from the day the campers prepared to go watch Oscar-nominated film Lion starring Dev Patel and Nicole Kidman at the local movie theater in Crans. Following the amazing film, they enjoyed some supper and were able to get cozy in the chalet for an indoor game of Crans vs. Montana. Which included various mini games such as Over & Under, Orange Pass, and Keep the Card.
Tomorrow is going to be another fantastic day of skiing with all the fresh snow that is expected overnight!
VERBIER: Goodbye February and hello March! This morning we woke up to more snow here in Verbier which is great for the conditions on the mountain and means our skiers and snowboarders had the chance to ski in some powder today. They had great fun and for our beginners it meant a very soft landing. Everyone did very well on the slopes, following their instructors advice and progressing massively from day one!
For one of our School groups from Ethiopia and the individuals, it was time to ditch their snow gear and head off for excursion day. They were very excited as their first stop was the new Neste Museum which is very interactive and modern and of course a chance to sample some chocolate. After, they were straight off to the Cheese Factory followed by some shopping in Vevey, which went down well with all our campers. They’ve had an amazing day and it’s great for them to explore new areas in Switzerland.
Tonight everyone was super energetic during our evening activities. We had round two of La Fureur and The Qube, which got all the children dancing, singing and very competitive. After a long day, it is finally time for bed!!
28th February 2017- Skiing, Baking, Snowman Building, Swimming, The Qube, La Furuer, Chalet Night
Today EIC Merbella woke up to an amazing sight of a fresh dump of snow. All the groups made it up in the morning to enjoy all the new snow. Due to the bad weather in the afternoon 4 out of the 5 groups went ice skating while the beginner group made it to the golf course to keep practicing on the button lifts.
After warming up with some nutella and hot coco, the kids went on a shopping spree around the wonderful town of Crans-Montana. Once returning to the chalet the campers were able to get cozy for dinner and then watch Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
Hopefully it’ll keep snowing over night and we can look forward to another powder day tomorrow!
VERBIER: Today we had lots of snow which was very exciting and everyone loved playing in it. The conditions on the slopes were harder then other days but everyone coped very well and are still improving day by day.
We have had another busy day on camp with many exciting activties happening. Lots of people went outside and had a snowman competition. One school made some very yummy cookies which were very successful. Some chose to relax and others chose to go swimming.
In in the evening we got very competitive in the game shows the cube and la fureur. With lots of singing, dancing and having fun with challenging games. The individuals had a lovely relaxing evening with pizza and a movie.
24th February – Final Day, Skiing, Snowboarding, Village and Prize Giving!!
Today was many of our campers last day out on the mountain so everyone was keen to make the most of their day and were ready and raring to go. The conditions were a lot tougher as we have finally had some snow after a week of glorious weather. The visibility wasn’t great but everyone was amazing, paying attention and still wanting to learn more from their instructors on their final day. This week has been an outstanding week for all the staff at Les Elfes as everyone has integrated well, with school groups mixing well with our individuals. There has been some strong friendships formed and we hope they all stay in touch and come back next year!
This afternoon we had some last minute shopping for gifts as well as a lot of packing and playing games. Tonight we finished the week off with our prize giving. The instructors were all in work presenting their medals and special prizes as well as the animation staff giving out their star camper awards. To top it off we watched a lovely slideshow of all our amazing photos taken throughout the week and then the music video which had been edited and was very funny! We hope you all have a safe journey home and for those that are staying next week…bring it on!!
