Saturday 22nd August 2015 – camping, rock climbing, outdoor activities
Beautiful morning today! Sun is shinning bright – perfect for outdoor activities!
Once Discovery kids where finished with their morning routine it was time to pack their tents back in to bags so the most fun part of the day can start – swimming and games in Crans-Montana lake and nearest play ground. Kids had so much fun!
Explorers and Pioneers enjoyed their time near mountain hut. Teams games and hike around the lake filled their morning, but nice swim after was just in time to refresh. Once everyone came back to Verbier it was time for lunch and Rock climbing. After safety instructions kids started to put on their harnesses and helmets and where ready for challenge! Playgroup, football pitch where the options for those who had to wait for their turn to climb!
Friday 21st August 2015-Mountain hut, camping
Morning in camp started with language classes, but kids couldn’t keep their minds of the later activity – mountain hut.
After having lunch on camp everyone started to get ready for sleepover in mountain hut and tents. Kids were excited and couldn’t wait to finally get there. After packing what they thought would be necessary everyone was ready to leave straight after lunch.
Discovery skids began the journey over to the Crans Montana camping place straight after lunch. They swung and zipped around the ropes course for the rest of the afternoon, before eventually heading back to campsite for dinner and a special treat – a campfire marshmallow session!
Explorers and Pioneers went to Lac Tanay. After everyone settled in camping place it was time for fire building sessions. Kids didn’t have to look for all things necessary far and soon enough bonfire was ready for BBQ and marshmallows.
Today all the kids (Discovery, Explorer and Pionner) came back around 3pm from the mountain hut and camping. They all enjoyed living this adventure; but the first thing they needed to do back to Les Elfes was showering. At 4pm all the campers had languages, and at 7.30 pm, after a little free time, they had for dinner a pasta party. During the evening, Discoveries were really creative doing the “egg drop challenge”, Explorers had fun playing mini-golf and the Pionners had an amazing Casino Night. Everyone were tired after this and went quietly to bed.
Emosson Camp, Lac Taney and Canoe Expedition
The three groups have just left to their expeditions.
The Discovery group is in its way to Emosson.
The Explorer group will soon start to hike up to Lac Taney. After dinner they will set up a bomb fire, eat mash mellows, tell stories and sing songs.
Pioneers are getting their camp stuff ready. Once it is loaded in the canoe they will start the expedition across Lake Geneva. Afterwards they will set up their tents and prepare dinner on the fire.
All the groups will be back in Verbier Campus tomorrow after lunch for their language lessons at 16h00.
High ropes, arts & crafts, first aid and survival games
Today our campers had to pack up from their overnight expeditions and make there way back to base.
Discovery- This morning the discovery kids were all looking forward to hitting a different ropes course. Some of them were feeling more confident than the last visit and were looking forward to testing themselves in the trees! Tonight they have been doing acting and roll playing games with the explorers.
Explorers- This morning our explorers woke up high in the mountain at Tanay mountain hut. They had some first aid and survival games before hiking down and returning to camp. This evening they joined the discovery campers for acting and roll playing games.
Pioneers – Our pioneers packed up camp and had a short hike to the buses which took them to a different ropes course to try out. The pioneers were defiantly more confident and attacked some of the harder courses in some places 50 ft in the tree tops. Tonight’s activity has brought a great British pub quiz to Switzerland. With the winning team being treated to a pizza from our resort manager! Thanks Adam!
Rock Climbing, High Ropes Course, Canadian Canoe Expedition cont…
Canadian Canoe Expedition, A night in a Mountain Hut
All the campers broke their groups and started their final preparations for camping tonight!
Some of our students took time away for Tennis coaching in the morning, while the rest of their team helped get their camping stuff ready.
Discovery – After the Discovery group got their camping gear ready they had a treasure hunt around Verbier before returning for lunch. After lunch they went hiking with one of the local mountain guides and learned about nature and various edible plants growing wild in the mountains. When they returned they got cracking building their tents. After a nice BBQ meal they played games around the campsite before turning in for the night.
Explorers – Our Explorers set of for the mountain hut after the final prep this morning. When the buses dropped them off they had a nice 2 hour hike up the mountain. On the hike they were lucky enough to enjoy the beautiful forest and views of Lake Léman (Geneva). When they reached the hut they found another glorious lake on their doorstep. Once they got checked in, they played games along the shoreline of the lake high up in the mountian
Pioneers – Like the other groups, the Pioneers finished their prep work before setting off to the lake. Once they got to the lake they chose canoeing partners. In their pairs they packed up the canoe with the tent, sleeping bags, food for cooking at camp later in the evening. From there, they set sail for a destination unknown. After few hours later they arrived slightly damp with smiles from ear to ear, but the fun was only just beginning. They set up the tents and began with some bush craft skills and challenges set by our monitors. Later that evening they set the fire, cooked, and all sat around for a sing along with a guitar, before turning in for bed.
We all look forward to the pictures from the activities our Explorers and Pioneers took, but we’ll have to wait and see upon their return. For now, a few pictures from our young Discovery group putting up their tents…
