Thursday 27th April – Skiing, mountain biking, problem solving, journalism, etiquette & Web identity

Another snowy day here in Verbier and it looks like it will continue through the night which is great! Our skiers had another superb day out on the mountain and are now up and about the slopes starting to get some good turns in. Again it was quite difficult conditions with bad visibility so our groups did fantastic.

Another group were on excursion today visiting the United Nations which they found extremely interesting. They then had the opportunity to explore Geneva and do some shopping.

This afternoon our journalism class continued with their interviews and articles which are really starting to come together. Our mountain bikers braved the weather and headed out to improve their riding. Back at camp our leadership group took part in various problem solving activities which went down really well.

Tonight was the last evening of etiquette class and web identity. Both have been a huge success and everyone has shown real enthusiasm and interest throughout.

We are all looking forward to another day in the snow tomorrow!

Wednesday 26th April – Skiing, mountain biking, leadership, Journalism, Etiquette, Web Identity

Another fantastic day here in Verbier during our Spring camp. Our skiers did another brilliant job out on the mountain with some tough conditions. It was pretty cold and snowy at times and our instructors were very impressed with our campers attitude.

This afternoon our mountain bikers headed out to the mountain and really enjoyed their ride down. During leadership we learnt about different types of leadership and roles. In journalism the group were interviewing each other ready to write up their articles.

This evening we had a debate about online accounts and discussed how long we should be on the internet for, while in etiquette classes they learnt about meal times and different scenarios.

Tuesday 25th April journalism, etiqutte classes

Today has been a really busy day here in Verbier, our campers this week are making leaps and bounds on the mountain their instructors and are really enjoying the new experience. It was snowing at times during the day making conditions a bit trickier but everyone did really well.

This afternoon was the start of our core lessons. Our students chose between mountain biking where today they learnt the basics of the bike itself and how to do repairs on tyres and chains. They managed to get up the hill and have a practice on the off-road conditions which went really well. Elsewhere some opted for leadership skills where they had some ice-breaker games as well as an overview of what makes a good leader. Lastly we had a journalism class where the group had an introduction to the world of Journalism and looked at topics and ideas of magazines and newspapers.

This evening our classes changed and everyone now either took part in etiquette classes or web identity. During etiquette classes they learnt how to act in public, how to greet people formally and informally as well as role play and scenarios of good and bad examples attitude and behaviour. In web identity the main focus today was how we present ourselves online and awareness on social media.

Tomorrow it is forecast to snow which everyone is super excited about!!

Sunday 9th April – Ski camp, village, relaxing walk & Ice skating

It has been a beautiful sunny day here in Verbier with lots going on for our new groups. It was the schools first day on the mountain and they were all super excited to get out and meet their instructors for the week. They all got on really well and were very happy with the progress made.

On return to camp we welcomed our campers back with hot chocolate and snacks and signed them up for optional activities this afternoon. Some opted to go on a relaxing walk up the mountain where as the rest headed into town to check out the shops.

Tonight we welcomed one more arrival who were ski fitted and then had a movie night to chill and relax. The rest of camp visited the ice rink for some fun skating around and a game of ice hockey! It has been a brilliant day and we are all looking forward to tomorrows activities.

Saturday 8th April – Arrival day, skiing, escape rooms & movie night

Another beautiful Saturday here in Verbier where we are all ready to welcome our final schools and individual campers for the Winter season. Our remaining students headed up the mountain with their instructors for another day of learning and improving technique.

Unfortunately we had to say goodbye to one school this morning who left for excursion before going to the airport. They have been a fantastic group and we hope to see them again next year. This afternoon we checked in our new schools and had ski fit so they are now all equiped and ready to go tomorrow. Some individuals also went out for a relaxing walk up the mountain and enjoyed the view of Verbier.

This evening we had a chilled movie night on camp and games as many of our new arrivals had a tiring day travelling. Everyone is super excited ready for the first day tomorrow.

  

Saturday 1st April – Arrivals, Verbier Hunt, skiing, Torchlight Walk

It has been a busy but fun day here at camp in Verbier. Some of our new campers headed off this morning for their first day on the mountain. They were eager to get out and meet their instructors who were just as keen to meet their new group for the week. They all had lots of fun and the ones who are beginners picked it up really quickly.

We had some new schools and individuals arrive this afternoon, many returning from last year which is great to see. They all completed their ski fit before heading into the village to have a look round. Its the Free Ride World Tour this weekend so it was nice having a look round all the stalls and take in the busy atmosphere. Tonight it was a torchlight walk around the old village for one school while the rest enjoyed a chilled night with a movie and games. Everyone is super excited for tomorrow so it was an early bed time to get the all important rest.

 

Monday 27th March – Skiing, town, & Music Video

It has been a lovely sunny day here in Verbier with all our campers eager to get out this morning and get back on their skis. Our level ones were excellent again today and showed real determination to practice and pick up any tips their instructors gave them. Our more advanced skiers took the opportunity to explore more areas of the mountain and were practicing their parallel turns and carving. Everyone had a lot of fun and really impressed the instructors today.

This afternoon after some hot chocolate and snacks it was time for afternoon activities. Some ventured into town to see Verbier village and buy some souveniers for the family while others chilled back at camp playing in the games room.

This evening everyone took part in a music video where we filmed different groups performing their own choreography in some crazy fancy dress! It was an entertaining evening and everyone is looking forward to watching the final piece at prize giving.

Saturday 26th March – Skiing, baking, town & ice skating

It has been a wonderful first day for our new arrivals as they settle into camp. This morning they met their instructors for the first time and were introduced to the rest of their ski or snowboard  group. Everyone new to skiing went along to the beginner slope where they practiced putting skis on and off. Afterwards it was time to learn how to stop and do snow plow. The more experienced riders explored Verbier mountain and practiced improving their technique.

Everyone had a really fun day and returned to camp with smiley faces and lots of stories. This afternoon one school headed into Verbier town to have a look round while another group baked some delicious cookies! This evening we all went to the ice rink to do some skating and ice hockey before having a cup of hot chocolate back at Les Elfes.

Everyone is super excited to head back out tomorrow.

 

 

Crans – Montana. Sunday, 26th March.

We have all had an amazing first day skiing with all are new campers in Crans Montana. Everyone was woken up at 7.30 am to enjoy a filling breakfast and to get ready for the first day of skiing. All the new campers where split into 5 ski groups with 2 beginner groups. The beginner groups went to the magic carpet, where they learnt how to snow plow with some managing to parallel turn by the end of the day, whilst the other three intermediate ski groups explored the rest mountain and started to improve their individual ski technique ; even though the weather conditions where slightly foggy today all the ski groups managed amazingly well.

After skiing everyone came back for snacks and hot chocolate. This afternoons activity was Bin bag fashion show where all the campers split into 4 groups and made a costume based on the theme animal kingdom, we had a killer mouse, Tarzan, sausage dog and a narwhale. Following on from this we had a delicious dinner and then went bowling, which all the kids enjoyed with many of them getting strikes.  Everyone can not wait for Skiing tomorrow.   

Friday March 24 2017 – Skiing, Snowboarding, Excursion, Prize Giving and Departures.

Another great day has come to a end here at Les Elfes.
Today some of the campers headed off on various excursions some to the famous Cailler chocolate factory which was thoroughly enjoyed by our group, and then on to the Gruyure cheese factory. Some also visited the Olympic museum which was a lot of fun with its interactive games.
Everyone else here at camp headed up the mountain for one last day of skiing and snowboarding really getting to perfect the skills they have learnt over the week and try some new harder runs.
In the afternoon we sadly had to say goodbye to some of our campers who are heading off home after a super fun week here but before they left we had a small prize giving where the instructors got to give out some special prizes and say goodbye.
The other campers enjoyed a well deserved hot chocolate and snacks and used the afternoon to relax and pack after the big week skiing and snowboarding.
After dinner we had a prize giving for the rest of our camper where our instructors revealed the all important race results and congratulated everyone on their performance throughout the week. Afterwards everyone enjoyed watching the slideshow of the week and the music video we made earlier on in the week. It has been a brilliant week and we are all sad to see these groups leave.

Sunday March 5th 2017 – Skiing, Snowboarding & Ice Skating

Today started off with some glorious sunshine and clear skies before the snow returned once again.
The morning was full of excitement as today was some of the campers first day out skiing. This meant meeting their new instructors and group for the week ahead. For some it was the second day and it was time for them to head up the mountain to perfect the skills they have already learnt. Everyone had a fantastic time and returned to camp with huge smiles and stories of their day.
This afternoon lots of our campers chose to visit the swimming pool and have a splash around. It was a lot of fun with races, games and time in the jacuzzi to relax tired muscles. The rest of camp opted to either play in the snow or chill in the games room.

Tonight after dinner we headed over to the sports centre for some ice skating and a mini hockey match for those who wanted to join in. For some it was their first time on the ice and they did extremely well!
Everyones off to bed soon to get some sleep for another big day tomorrow.

2nd March 2017 – Skiing, snowboarding, snow tubing, ski race, town, swimming & disco!!

CRANS MONTANA:

Day 5 was off to a great start with another dump of fresh snow, because of the wind conditions the Cry’der lift was shut in the morning so all the groups took the bus to the Violettes. Once coming back for lunch the campers were able to re-energize and head back to shred the mountain.

After a long day of skiing the kids warmed up and then went right back out to enjoy some snow tubing. Snow tubing was a lot of fun because of the fresh snow. Returning from dinner the kids had some time to get ready for the disco after dinner. The disco was great as the campers were able to all show off there amazing dance moves.

Getting back from the disco the kids were able to relax for what would be a blue bird day of skiing!

VERBIER: Today has been a brilliant day here at camp with all our skiers and snowboarders progressing massively and all performing really well in our slalom ski race on the mountain. Lots of our campers are confident they won they will have to wait anxiously till tomorrows prize giving to find out. We then had to have an indoor BBQ due to the weather but everyone still enjoyed the delicious food that was prepared.

This afternoon some visited the local pool for some games and a relaxing jacuzzi while many headed into town with our monitors to buy souvenirs for their family back home. Tonights dinner was traditional cheese fondue which went down a treat before this evenings disco! We had lots of dance routines to follow and everyone was giving it their all on the dance floor.

 

1st March 2017 – Skiing, excursion day, sledging, Music quiz and torchlight walk

Can’t believe its March already and what a beautiful start to the month with more fresh powder! Our individuals and one school ventured off this morning on excursion, to the cheese factory, Nestle and Vevey to do some shopping. They were excited to have the opportunity to look round Switzerland and do some sight-seeing.

The rest of camp were on the mountain practicing their turns and improving their technical side. They all had a super time and are loving being up the mountain whizzing round. This afternoon we had sledging on offer now the snow has arrived and we had such a good time. For many it was their first time and really enjoyed sliding down the mountain. A few of our campers opted to put their feet up and watch a movie.

This evening we ran one competitive gameshow and one music quiz which got really intense and had lots of laughs. At the same time one school went out on a torchlight walk and saw Verbier by night.

Sunday 26th Febuary – Ski Fit, Skiing, Snowboarding, Crans Hunt, Bowling

CRANS MONTANA: Last night we welcomed MIC Merbella to Les Elfes Crans Montana, and what a first day it has been today! Ski fit took place first thing, followed by the groups heading for their first morning skiing and snowboarding 🏂 🎿 One group of beginners headed to the learner slope, whilst the others ventured up the mountain!

It was a beautiful bluebird day, and all the campers were raring to go! Back to Les Elfes for lunch out on the terrace, followed by some more skiing and also a chance to watch the final of the slalom World Cup.

This afternoon the campers ventured out to get to know the town and this evening a bit of fun with bowling 🎳

VERBIER CAMPUS:

It has been a super sunday here in Verbier with our new groups absolutely smashing it on their skis. For many it was their first time and they all tried so hard to pick it up. There was lots of positive energy and all the instructors were very impressed.

This afternoon everyone had the option to visit the village or stay and relax on camp playing games. Many were very tired after the first day but everyone arrived back at camp with an extremely positive attitude. We all had a lovely time walking and having a look round. This evening it was ice skating night at the rink. Everyone enjoyed skating around and having races with each other! After some hot chocolate it was time for bed to get some much needed rest ready for another big day tomorrow.

Saturday 25th February – Skiing, bowling, excursion, arrival day

It has been a busy start to the weekend here in Verbier with lots of our campers departing. It has been such a good week and all the schools and individuals have mixed brilliantly. There was lots of sad goodbyes this morning but lots of excitement about seeing each other again next year.

Our remaining campers had the option to ski or go bowling. It was a lovely sunny day out on the mountain and the small group enjoyed whizzing around. Bowling was lots of fun and was a close match with some high scores! One school visited the chocolate factory and then onto Lausanne to do some shopping and see the sights.

This afternoon we have had many arrivals and it is brilliant to see so many smiley faces excited to get out skiing. We ski fitted everyone with the correct equipment and then walked into the village to have a look around. Many campers are tired from the long day travelling so it was an early night or a movie to relax and get ready for a busy day tomorrow.

Wednesday 22nd February – Skiing, Arts & Crafts, Swimming, Music Quiz and Can You beat the Cube!

Today has been a fantastic day all round, the weather has been beautiful, the skiing great and everyones enthusiam on top form. All our groups are now on the mountain discovering their new found talent for skiing or snowboarding! All the instructors have been really impressed with the campers attitude and willingness to learn which is fantastic. Elsewhere some of our individuals had the opportunity to go to Aosta, Italy on excursion. They visited the castle before heading to around the lovely town and grab an ice cream!

This afternoon we had different activities on offer such as swimming, arts and crafts and spaghetti towers which was a huge success. This evening half the groups took part in a music gameshow with lots of dancing, singing and games while the rest enjoyed a competitive version of the Cube. Both went down really well and everyone enjoyed taking part which is amazing!

 

Monday 20th February – Skiing, torchlight walk & music video

It has been a lovely sunny day here in Verbier with our groups settling in brilliantly and learning lots on the mountain with their instructors. Our campers on the beginner slope were really keen and improved massively so tomorrow they will get the opportunity to head up to the mountain. Lots of our experienced skiers had a super time exploring new parts of the mountain and trying out new tricks!

This afternoon the majority of camp headed out for a torchlight walk, some up the mountain to watch the sunset and others to visit the old town. Some of our other campers popped into the village for a crepe and a milkshake in the sunshine.

This evening everyone took part in the music video which was hilarious with some great dance moves. We look forward to seeing the final product on Friday.

  

February 17th – Skiing, escape rooms, dine out, prize giving

It has been an interesting day here in Verbier with all our campers making the most of their last day on the mountain. The weather has been a real mix from beautiful sunshine to lots of snow! Most of our groups enjoyed skiing around different slopes with some visiting Mt Fort as well. Everyone has worked super hard this week and has been determined to carry on even though we had lots of tired legs. A big well done to everyone from all the instructors and monitors here in Verbier.

This afternoon we had lots going on with our discovery group attempting to get out of the escape rooms. They did really well and although they didnt quite make it they displayed great team work and dedication! Back at camp we had lots of games while some chose to wander into town to buy some souveniers. Tonight some of our explorers went on dine out to the restaurant Chez Martin and had a really lovely meal. We celebrated the end of a brilliant week with Prize giving this evening. Our monitors and instructors took the opportunity to thank and congratulate their groups by awarding medals and prizes.

It has been a super week and we are looking forward to meeting our new arrivals tomorrow!

 

 

 

Monday 6th February – Arrivals, skiing, sledging, baking, music video and Escape Rooms

Monday has flown by and we have had a superb day full of laughter and excitement! We had a school arrive this morning who were keen to get straight out on the slopes and meet their new instructors. Many have been before so it is brilliant to see their smiley faces again. It has been snowing continuously here so the powder today was amazing and all our groups had a fantastic ski. Those on the beginner slope are doing really well and should be making their way up the mountain very soon.

This afternoon we had numerous activities on offer for our campers. Some went sledging and enjoyed zooming down on the boards while others had a snowman building competition. We had a spaghetti building challenge as well and many played in the games room.

This evening was music video where our campers were split into different groups and giving a piece of a song to choreography a dance to. It was a lot of fun with everyone in fancy dress and we are looking forward to seeing the finishing piece at Prize Giving. Some of our campers also spent the evening in town attempting the Escape Rooms. They worked together really well to escape in 60 minutes. Back at camp some of our individuals baked some delicious cookies ready to have at snack time tomorrow. It has been a wonderful day and we are all excited to see what tomorrow brings!

Saturday 4th February – Arrivals, skiing, Verbier hunt & chilled night

More snow has arrived which is fantastic news for our new campers this week. Those skiing today enjoyed the snow and did well in the conditions they were in. We have had lots of arrivals through out the day, all are now settling in and being ski fitted ready to get out on the slopes tomorrow.

Tonight is going to be a chilled night playing games and watching a movie as many have had a long day travelling. Everyone is extremely happy and we are all looking forward to a brilliant week!


Friday 3rd February – skiing, ice-skating, departures, cabin Mt Fort & Escape Rooms

It has been a very busy Friday here at camp with lots going on. Unfortunately we had to say farewell to 3 of our school groups after a fantastic week. Hopefully we will see them return next year. One group spent the morning at the ice-rink skating around and enjoying themselves.

The rest of the campers were having fun on the mountain making the most of their time skiing and snowboarding. For most it was their last time with their instructors and so an emotional afternoon! Some of our individuals had the opportunity to snow shoe up to Cabin Mt Fort this afternoon and spent the night watching the sunset on the mountain. It was a great experience for them all to end a brilliant week. Everyone else at camp ventured into town to take part in the Escape Rooms and try to solve all the problems and clues within 60 minute. They all did really well.

It has been a super day and we are all looking forward to tomorrow!

Thursday 2nd January – Skiing, ski race, BBQ, prize giving & disco!

It has been a fun filled day here in Verbier for all our campers and one to certainly remember! Everyone was up nice and early ready to meet their instructors and head out to the mountains. There has been some serious improvement in everyone’s ability and our campers had a super day skiing and boarding around the slopes. Today was also race day and so everyone got the chance to take part in our very own slalom course and compete against their fellow campers. It was taken very seriously and everyone was excited to find out the results at prize giving!

It was a special lunch today, a beautiful BBQ in the sunshine at La Chaux. It was a chance to enjoy the scenery and relax before continuing with this afternoons ski. Back at camp this afternoon it was time for Prize Giving where our instructors and monitors took the opportunity to congratulate our campers and award them with race result medals and prizes. Afterwards it was down to the cinema room to watch this weeks music video and slideshow!

The highlight of the day was tonight’s disco in town! Everyone was dressed to impress and eager to get on the dance floor. The atmosphere was buzzing and all the campers wanted to dance the night away!
