Swiss Made Watches and Other Things that Switzerland is Famous for

Apart from Swiss-made watches, various things cross the mind at the thought of Switzerland. In this post, we shall discuss more about Swiss timepieces and other fascinating things you can find in Switzerland.

Understanding Swiss Made Watches

Some of the most reliable and well-designed products in the world come with the phrase Swiss-made. When it comes to watches, this phrase pertains to the drive behind the creation of the timepiece. The Swiss-made label is a legal standard, meaning that products with this tag carry the term under the law. The Swissness laws were codified in 1971 and amended in 1995 in Switzerland.

How to Identify an Authentic Swiss Watch

By law, a swatch watch can only be Swiss-made if it meets some conditions, which include:

  • The movement of the watch must be of Swiss origin. Movement here means the procedures that facilitate the watchkeeping time.
  • The Swiss movement must be cased up inside the borders of Switzerland. Thirdly, the manufacturer must conduct the watch’s final inspection in Switzerland. Generally, the luxury watch must be made in Switzerland from start to finish.

The Swiss automatic watch has gained popularity across the world because it is of high quality. It has taken many years of dedication from manufacturers in the watch industry in the country to build a reputation.

Both large and small Swiss manufacturers take pride in their culture and continue to utilize the term Swiss on their items. Swiss watch brands are a deep-rooted and accepted prime mark of quality.

The Swiss government guards this reputation stringently and has passed different laws over the years. According to these Swiss laws, only specific products should feature the term Swiss under particular conditions.

What does the Law State?

The 1971 law strives to outline Swiss quality applicable to the production cost and magnitude of work on a watch conducted inside Switzerland. The law allows the use of foreign parts. However, it states that assembling of the movement with the case, hands, crown, pushers, and the final testing should occur in Switzerland. This law also states that at least 50% of the movement Swiss parts must be manufactured in Switzerland.

What happens if the watch’s movement meets the set conditions, but the timepiece was set-up outside the country? In this case, the term Swiss will appear in one of the movement components.

At the exterior part of the watch, the term movement Suisse, or Swiss movement will be evident. However, it must be in full, and the words must be in the same typeface and color as the term Swiss.

Brand Protection

The Federation of the Swiss watch industry is responsible for brand protection. The organization uses the law we have discussed here, in collaboration with other places of origin. It also uses brand protection laws to safeguard the reputation of Swiss Watches.

Apart from Swiss watchmakers, many manufacturers in the watch industry struggle with counterfeiting, especially now that buying products online is easy.

Why you Should Buy a Swiss Watch

There are numerous Swiss-made watch brands for you to choose from, such as Tag Heuer, Omega, Seiko, and Rolex. Many of these brands are more popular and superior to non-Swiss brands on the market today. They are also commonly used by the Swiss army. What are the reasons behind this kind of success? Read on to find out.

Swiss wristwatches are made with ultimate craftsmanship to guarantee quality. Swiss companies use the best stainless steel and metal gears in the production process. The watches are handmade which cuts down manufacturing costs, and you can also take them for servicing. Due to this, you can wear a Swiss watch for many years. Manufacturers use robust materials to make the link pins and watch parts, unlike standard timepieces that are made with plastic parts.

Nearly every Swiss-made mechanical watch comes with 316L surgical steel, top-grade metallic steel that can resist corrosive materials of biological or industrial origin. As a result, these watches are less prone to tarnish, or wear and tear. Swiss watches are also hypoallergenic, making them ideal for people who are allergic to secondary alloys.

The face of Swiss-made timepieces is made of sapphire crystal, a material that makes them scratch resistant.

How to Buy Swiss Made Watches

Buying a watch from a retailer in Switzerland should not be a difficult task. Swiss watchmaking companies are specific when it comes to dealing with retailers. This practice comes in handy to ensure that customers only access genuine products. Ensure your jeweler gives you a certificate of authenticity and a payment receipt.

If you will be buying your watch online, it is crucial to conduct some research about the retailer. Check their website and read the review sections to get an overview of the experience previous customers have had.

Whether new or second hand, Swiss-made watches are not cheap. If the price is too low, then you may want to look for an alternative.

·         Consider the Movement

Are you looking for an automatic chronograph or a quartz watch? Automatic watches are self-winding, meaning that you do not have to wind them, especially if you wear them for 12 hours every day. Are you looking for a luxury watch? If this is the case, then a quartz movement option would be ideal because they are cheaper.

·         Consult an Expert

Differentiating a genuine watch from a replica today is fast becoming a difficult task. However, an expert can guide you accordingly. Beware of retailers who sell watches without paperwork.

·         Watch out for Errors

Many non-Swiss watches come with tiny flaws like a misspelling of the name, and low-quality engravings, or some changes to the logo. Before buying a timepiece, you want to inspect it well using a magnifying glass. Doing so will help you identify any imperfections or errors.

Browse through the watch company website. Many manufacturers include details of the watches they have manufactured on their websites. Sometimes you can succeed in matching serial numbers.

Other Captivating Things that you will find in Switzerland

·         Gruyère Cheese

If you do not reside in Switzerland, you may think that Swiss cheese is like any other ordinary cheese that comes with holes. However, Swiss cheese is unique. You can find up to 450 different cheese varieties in Switzerland. Gruyère Cheese is one of the most popular and most protected Swiss cheese.

Gruyères is a town that lies in Fribourg, a French-speaking region east of Geneva. Fribourg is among the five locations that constitute the Gruyère AOP production area. Gruyère boasts a long culture with cheese making records dating back to the 12th century within the region.

Currently, Switzerland produces up to 30,000 tons of Gruyère cheese annually. Switzerland sold approximately 15,000 tons of this cheese in the country, meaning it was the most consumed cheese in 2018.

In 2001, Gruyère was given AOP (appellation d’origine protégée) protection from the EU. This term translates to protected designation of origin. However, various conditions come with this protection like:

  • Manufacturers must produce Gruyère cheese using traditional methods.
  • Producers must use raw milk obtained from organic-fed cows in dairies within 20 kilometers.
  • Manufacturers must age Gruyère cheese for at least five months.

You must store Gruyère cheese on wooden shelves at approximately 15 degrees in high humidity areas. This cheese is the main ingredient in fondue in various Swiss regions. It comes with a unique but not overwhelming taste making it ideal for cooking.

A Gruyère wheel measures around 60 centimeters in diameter and weighs approximately 38 kilograms. Look out for “Le Gruyère AOP” along the side of the rind if you are looking for genuine Gruyère cheese. Each cheese wheel must feature the number of the factory, production date, and a casein mark.

Nature and the picturesque Alps are some of the best things you will find in Switzerland. Thousands of tourists visit Switzerland each year to view and enjoy the Alps. You cannot miss the Alp Mountains as they constitute approximately 65% of the country. Apart from being the most elegant mountain ranges, the Alps are ideal for winter sports and skiing. Primary Socialization: A Crucial Factor during Childhood All Through to Adulthood

Primary socialization is the early period in an individual’s life where they learn and develop themselves through interactions and experiences around them. In this article, we shall discuss the socialization process in detail.

Why Primary Socialization is Critical for Children

Primary socialisation for children lays down the foundation for all future socialization. The process of socialization takes place when a child learns factors that are ideal for people from a particular culture. These factors include:

  • Cultural practices
  • Attitudes
  • Social norms
  • Values
  • Actions

Usually, the immediate family members and friends influence primary socialization.

·       An Example of Primary Socialization

Let us assume a child hears his parents saying nasty words about older persons. The child will grow up knowing that the act is acceptable in society. As a result, they will start bad-mouthing older persons.

·       Other Forms of Socialization

Apart from the primary socialization process, there are four other socializing agents types, as we shall discuss below.

Secondary Socialization

Secondary socialization takes place when human beings learn appropriate behavior that they should exhibit in a small group. In this case, this small group represents the larger society. Changes in attitudes, values, and individual beliefs are usually less critical than those that he makes while engaging in the larger society.

·       An Example of Secondary Socialization

A middle school graduate picks a career in Business Administration after participating in a small career group conference.

Developmental Socialization

This form of socialization comprises a learning process that focuses on enhancing a person’s social skills. Case in point: a reserved middle school student starts teaching English to new students in a bid to build their verbal communication skills.

·       Anticipatory Socialization

Anticipatory socialization is the process where an individual prepares for future social interactions. Case in point: a child looks forward to parenthood as he watches his parents execute their daily functions.

Resocialization involves renouncing former behavioral patterns and adopting new ones. By so doing, individuals can switch from one side of their life to another. Experts opine that resocialization occurs all through the human life cycle.

What are the Components of Personality Development?

Sigmund Freud, the creator, and physician behind psychoanalysis designed a personality development theory. The theory declares that: societal influences and biological instincts define what an individual grows into as an adult.

According to Freud, the mind comprises three components. That is the superego, id, and ego. These three components must collaborate to facilitate successful interaction with and become a part of society. When one of these components becomes dominant or surpasses the others, the person may experience personal and social problems.

·       Identity Manifests First

Freud says that out of the three components, the identity is not only the most important, but it also manifests first. It is the identity that triggers an individual to develop self-concept and strictly behave for their pleasure.

The mind of a newborn only comprises the identity because the only things they need are physical desires. The superego evolves while a person transitions into adulthood. It is called the evolution of conscience. At this point, the person understands the various societal norms available and follows them.

·       The Ego Progresses into Late Teenage

The ego grows into late teenage and adulthood. It is the section of the mind that settles conflicts between the superego and the id. Ego enables an individual to make reasonable decisions that obey societal rules.

What Other Experts Say

The primary socialization theory is a diverse concept. Many experts have covered it, as we shall see below.

·       Jean Piaget on Cognitive Development

In his 1936’s theory of cognitive development, Jean Piaget illustrates how a child fabricates a mental design of the world. He opposed the concept that intelligence was a predetermined trait. Jean considered cognitive development to be a process that results from interacting with the environment and biological maturity.

·       Kohlberg’s Stages on Moral Development

Lawrence Kohlberg’s moral developmental stages comprise a modification of a psychological approach that Jean Piaget devised. Kohlberg established three key terms and levels of moral reasoning. They are:

  • Pre-conventional
  • Conventional, and
  • Post-conventional

Each level features two sub-stages, and people can only transition through them as they are in the above order. Every new stage replaces the reasoning displayed in the previous phase.

How does Primary Socialization Help Children Become Social Beings?

Socialization is critical for children who start the process from home, surrounded by family members, and continue with it at school. Children understand the expectations of the social class as they develop and become mature members of society.

Socialization is also critical for adults who associate with new social situations. It is crucial to understand that primary and secondary socialization factors may indirectly influence deviance and drug use. They may also encourage other substance use and this may trigger mental health problems.

What are the Objectives of Socialization?

Jeffrey J. Arnett interpreted the three fundamental objectives of socialization as follows.

On the first objective, socialization helps people grow a conscience and instills impulse control. People acquire this objective as they develop in a specific society. They inherit the expectations of the people around them and rely on them to grow a conscience and restrain their impulses.

The second socialization concept teaches people how to formulate and execute particular occupational, social, and gender roles. It also educates the functions of institutions like parenthood and marriage.

The third objective develops shared authorities of value and meaning. Primary socialization helps children to establish what is critical and valuable in a particular culture.

Importance of Socialization

Socialization with other children and adults outside the family lays the foundation where various aspects of childhood socialization development are ingrained. Exposing children to the outside world from an early age is crucial as it instills in them self-confidence. This approach also helps them to overcome shyness.

For children to live in society successfully, they need to interact with other people healthily and positively. It is crucial to watch over and encourage children, and instill in them productive methods of interacting with adults and their peers.

Parents should develop these skills over time, through teachings, strengthening, and practice. A childcare center provides a supportive and safe space for children to understand different cultures.

Why Children Should Learn a Second Language at an Early Age

One of the reasons why children should learn a second language at an early age is; they understand easily and fast. Again, they have more time to learn, and minimal distractions. Their brain is also structured for learning languages with ease. By enrolling your child in a second language class you save them from struggling to learn a new language as adults.

It is worth mentioning that competing on a global scale today is critical for a successful career. In many occupations currently, speaking at least one foreign language increases your value and makes you marketable to any organization. Teaching your children foreign languages from an early age prepares them for a successful future. Read on for more reasons on why your child should learn a new language.

·       Cognitive Advancement

Learning a foreign language comes with various cognitive benefits. According to experts, bilingual children have better critical thinking and problem-solving skills than their monolingual counterparts. They also have better memory, more creativity, a flexible mind, and better multi-tasking skills. Teaching children a new language early life offers them a chance to develop excellent cognitive benefits. These developments help them excel both academically and in their careers in the future.

·       Linguistic Skills

Many people opine that learning a new language confuses or hinders a child’s linguistic development in their native language. However, research shows that children who learn a different language post better results in their native language compared to their peers who speak only one language. Studying grammatical structures in other languages helps children enhance their grammar in their indigenous language.

·       Improvement of Empathy

Studying a foreign language introduces children to new grammatical structures and vocabulary. It can also help them understand different cultures. Studies indicate that bilingual children do better on tests that demand an individual’s point of view to figure out their meaning.

The cultural knowledge and empathy that children acquire from studying a different language helps them in various aspects of their life. These vary from understanding their associates within the workplace, to playing at school.

Secondary Socialization Occurs Between Childhood to Adulthood

In socialization, family members, peer groups, mass media, and educational institutions in the United States influence an individual. Secondary socialization, on the other hand, takes place from childhood to adulthood where a person comes across new groups. In this case, they have to assume new functions to engage in society successfully.

However, this process comprises smaller changes compared to those involved in primary socialization. Further, it is related to adolescents and adults. In secondary socialization, a person starts to engage in larger societies or smaller groups. Due to this, they should be in a position to behave suitably.

Primary Socialization is a Lifelong Process

Primary socialization occurs between infancy, childhood, and all through to early teens, where someone develops their personality and key principal identity. All along this process, an individual structures their self-awareness and self-image through social experience. Join us now to learn more comprehensive details on primary socialization.

  • Begin from the horizontal part of your paper and draw three hearts in different sizes using your permanent marker pen. Ensure your hearts are big enough to split up so that your drawing ideas can fit. Let the kids sketch the heart shapes with a pencil first. Doing so makes it easy correct any mistakes as they occur.
  • Add crisscrossing lines inside each heart. Remember, large heart shapes will have more lines than the smaller ones. You want to create different spaces where a design shall occupy. The lines should be a combination of straight and curvy.
  • You can allow the kids to draw their desired patterns or even use this zentangle pattern download. Remember, there are no defined rules when it comes to zentangle art ideas. Let the kids experiment with different patterns. You can even showcase the beautiful pieces on social media.

Fun String Art Ideas for Kids

Did you know that you can remodel art into geometry? You will need push pins and a string to develop colorful shapes. Young learners, with the help of their art teacher, can practice making squares and triangles.

Teachers will need comprehensive lesson plans to teach older kids and ensure they can create parabolic curves. This activity also falls under the easy crafts category, and it can be a perfect outdoor activity.

Materials you Need

  • Push pins or nails and toothpicks. Cut the toothpicks in half
  • Wood, foam core board, or cork
  • Colorful yarn, string, pipe cleaners, or embroidery thread
  • Hammer
  • Hot glue, but you can also use office glue

  • Show your kids how to push toothpicks or push pins in the foam core or cork safely to ensure they remain straight
  • Help children draw their favorite shapes on a sheet of paper and ask them to place marks on the corners. The pins on the foam core will lie at the corners while the string will create the lines
  • Let the kids make a geometry shape such as a triangle by placing pins in the foam or cork and wrapping a pipe cleaner or string around the pins. If your art class has older children, they can measure with a ruler to achieve uniform distance between the points. The measuring process is perfect, especially for complicated designs, such as parabolic curves.
  • Kids can also create repeating patterns by enveloping string around one pin and connecting it to other pins.
  • Let your kids experiment with different designs and shapes

  • Eye droppers
  • Oven

  • Preheat the oven to around 270 degrees
  • Peel off the paper on your old crayons, sort them according to their colors and break them into small pieces.
  • Put your sorted crayon pieces in the sections of your muffin pan.
  • Put your muffin pan with the crayons in the oven for approximately 20 minutes.
  • Once the crayons are well melted, remove the pan from the oven and place it on a table in a safe place.

You can start your painting project immediately. Remember, your silicone muffin pan will cool down within a short time, making it safe to hold. However, do not allow the kids to touch the pan. They should also understand that the melted crayons will be hot, and handling them would be dangerous.

Use your melted wax to complete kids’ art just as you would paint. While you can use paintbrushes, you may want to use eye droppers when the wax is hot. Eye droppers are ideal for older kids because younger children have no fine motor control to prevent wax from their skin. You can continue using your melted crayons for up to 15 minutes before they cool down and harden.

Allow your creative arts paintings to dry completely.

Protecting Young Kids from Hot Wax

This project can be complicated, especially for younger kids. However, they can still do it under adult supervision. Here are some safety and cleaning tips for this project.

How to be Successful when Learning Two Languages At Once

Learning a foreign language while on camp allows you to understand different histories and cultures. It also changes your overall perception of the world. The better you master a new language, the more you will want to continue learning other unique words.

Is it Possible to Learn Two Languages at Once?

Learning different languages at the same time while at camp is possible. Even then, not everyone is capable of multitasking. It is critical to understand that learning a new language takes a lot of time. You must show dedication to learning the two dialects if you want to master a new vocab.

If you lack enough time to concentrate, then you will only manage to master a single dialect. Luckily Les Elfes offers three types (private, intensive, and conversational) of language courses where students are classified depending on their language levels.

Students in these groups can choose Spanish, French, English, or German. Campers do not have to be English native speakers to take English lessons at the camp. Language teachers at the Les Elfes camp are committed to ensuring that every learner succeeds in their language of choice.

Motivation is Crucial

Learning different languages in high school at the same time can be demanding. Learners will need to be well-motivated, especially if they are focused on becoming polyglots. If you are combining French and Chinese to land your dream job, you will be more persistent. Remember, various factors, like learning method you use and your motivation, can have an impact on your success.

Apart from investing a reasonable amount of time, you will also need excellent time management skills to triumph. In this article, we shall discuss tips to help you stay sane while studying two languages at once.

Choose Your Languages Cautiously

Language learners who have tried learning two languages at once advise against it. According to experts, there is no sufficient time to give your brain a rest when learning two different new languages.

Native speakers say that studying similar languages at once can be confusing. When making your choice, begin with two different dialects. For example, you can combine French and Russian. Another trick would be combining a difficult language and an easy one. For example, assuming English is your native language, you will have a choice of different dialects with common words and features.

If you are a Native English speaker, learning Arabic can be a challenge. Instead, choose a simple language that features cognates. This strategy helps prevent burnout. English is one of the languages that have a contact history with many dialects.

Romance languages like Spanish, French, Portuguese, and Italian feature many similar words or cognates. Germanic languages like Dutch, Swedish, German, and Danish also feature many cognates and grammatical components. Select two languages with different writing styles to ease the learning process.

Consider Juggling Your Language Learning

If you already have some basic knowledge of one language, you can start by polishing your understanding before adding another dialect. You will have an easy time adjusting your language study before adding a new one. However, if you are starting from scratch, you can first lay a foundation before adding a new language.

Have Practical Progress Objectives in each Language

It is crucial to understand that you cannot learn and master two languages at once in a record two weeks. Lay down realistic progress goals and attempt to attain mini-objectives. Remember, your study time and knowledge of the dialect you choose determine your goals. Sometimes, you may have to set a first language that you will handle more boldly. Select a second language that you will assign a longer time to master.

Beware of Strategies that Work for You

Some people criticize the idea of integrating learning styles into activities, claiming that it does not promote retention. However, some exercises can boost your consciousness and help you remember what you learn better. For example, sketching examples of words helps you envision the meaning of a word. This concept is different from language translation on flashcards, where you can only visualize the explanation.

If you usually get distracted often, you may want to try listening to podcasts while engaging in another activity like cleaning. If you are a music enthusiast, you can listen to your favorite music, and have fun singing the lines in your target language. Remember, if you invest more time in learning languages, you will start identifying the methods that work best for you.

Speak as Much as you Can and Make it Enjoyable

Speaking a new dialect gives you a better understanding of the language as a whole and helps you communicate better. When you are learning two languages at once, speaking is crucial in ensuring that you absorb both dialects readily. To succeed, you need to enjoy the learning process. Watch movies, read books, and listen to music in the target language. If possible, you can travel to a region where people speak the language and get to experience it first-hand.

Schedule the Amount of Time you want to Spend on Each Language

To succeed in learning two languages at once, you need a robust plan and excellent time management skills. The first thing you should do is accept that a foreign language is different from your mother tongue.

Again, you must admit that you will need more dedication to master the dialects, than would be the case with a single language. Mastering the languages will take time, and you will need to be patient. If you are in a hurry to learn and master a foreign language, then learning two languages at once would not be a great idea.

Focus on Achieving Quality over Quantity

It is essential to cultivate good habits from the beginning of your target language lessons. Failure to do so establishes practices that are hard to shake later in your journey. To avoid this, you should understand what you are getting yourself into before starting your language lessons. Remember, learning a collection of vocab words just because you want to accelerate your learning journey will hurt you in the process.

Be Flexible

Remember, the beginning of your learning journey will not be easy. Not only will you need to be flexible, but you will also have to adjust your plans to fit your new schedule. This way, you will be able to contain any setbacks to ensure you do not deviate from your goals.

Adopt High-quality Learning Resources

Learning two languages can be more comfortable with the right learning resources. You do not have to worry about finding learning resources while at the Les Elfes camp. All language instructors are well trained, qualified, and experienced to offer the guidance that learners need.

Again, the instructors have numerous up to date resources both in soft and hard copy that learners can use accordingly. Teachers at the Les Elfes camp will even give learners online-based learning resources that they can use beyond the camping session.

Incorporate a Different Study Program for Each Language

To avoid getting confused when learning two languages at once, adopt a different study program. Language instructors on site will help you come up with a program that fits within your needs and schedule. Have a designated place within the camp for each language and replicate the plan once you get home after camp.

Move to a new position regularly to make your learning process even more fun. For example, you can study Korean by the campfire and Russian immediately after camp breakfast. This plan will help you develop an exclusive environment connected to each language.

Beware of Multitasking

According to some studies, engaging in two or even more things at the same time can be unproductive. This concept is real when it comes to learning two foreign languages at once. We can liken it to executing English flashcard drills while watching a Finnish movie.

By attempting to complete two things at once, you risk doing none of them well. However, when you get a firm foundation in the two foreign languages, you can leverage different ways to form a single lesson. For example, you can watch a movie in one of your target languages that show subtitles in your second language.

You can even watch a language lesson video that trains native speakers of one language how to pronounce phrases and words in another language. This strategy is called laddering, a popular method of learning and mastering new dialects in the polyglots community.

Leverage these Tips to Succeed

Are you considering learning two foreign languages during your next camping trip? If you are, these tips will help you succeed. Learning two new languages at once stimulates your mind.

Having to switch back and forth between languages regularly can be challenging. However, it enhances your thinking capacity and boosts your learning skills. As a result, learning and understanding other new dialects in the future become easy and faster.

Remember, not everyone can manage to learn two foreign languages at once. However, with dedication and the right concept, you will gain numerous benefits.

Parents are Investing in Luxury Camps to Keep their Kids Active this Summer

The health department of New York State stopped all sleepaway summer camps officially this year to curb the spread of Covid-19. The move left wealthy tri-state region parents in a state of panic, wondering how to keep their children occupied.

Many parents today are not willing to choose a day camp and expose their children to the risk of contracting COVID-19. Instead, they are investing thousands of dollars for private luxury summer camps across the world. Some of these luxury camps cost up to $150,000.

Exhausted parents admit that while luxury camps are costly, the investment is worth every coin. They are doing this to ensure their kids take a break from many months of homeschooling amid a pandemic.

One Manhattan mom said: “I cannot entertain a 4-year-old all summer in the way that he needs to be”. The mum who wanted to remain anonymous said she had teamed with other parents to share $38,500 for a specialized program. She said: “I started to get a little bit stressed out because I realized it was looking like camp was not going to happen, [and] I needed to find some activities”.

Arlene Streisand, an expert from Big Apple Camp, says that the previous two weeks have been a series of bad news as summer camps closed down one by one across New England. Streisand, who is also the director and founder of Camp Specialists, says: “parents are not happy. They have been home with the kids, cooking, and cleaning, and there are not a lot of choices for them right now”.

A managing partner at Embark Beyond, a travel agency, Julie Danziger predicted the ongoing trend. She leveraged that foresight to introduce a new luxury summer camp. However, her program is not an ordinary bunk-bed project. It (the camp experience) comes with a range of 5-star resorts to choose from.

Some of the activities at the camp base include; hot-air balloon rides, horseback riding, and go-kart racing for children. On-site chefs are also available as well as private jets to help clients reach their destinations fast and with ease. Julie says the biggest attraction of this extraordinary experience is blocking the outside world off.

According to Julie, most of her clients come from the tri-state region. She says; “we really take privacy to another level. The destinations we chose are a combination of a place that has plenty of activity options, but also have a lot of space and acres and acres of land.” So far, Julie’s company has organized more than 50 camp stays. Their highest price tag of $150,000 involves a 10-day stay at the Brush Creek Ranch in Saratoga, Wyoming.

Three families chose to rent out the luxurious Magee Homestead of the resort. This luxury facility is a 1,929-square-foot chalet that comes complete with an on-site spa, a grotto soaking pool, and three meals per day.

Nine kids aged between 5 and 16 are attending and will participate in daily activities that include; kayak races, all-terrain vehicle (ATV) riding, a family chopped-influenced game, wacky Olympics, and zip-lining.

Professional chefs will be on-site led by Lynda Levy, owner, and entrepreneur of a summer camp in New Jersey. She will customize the camp itinerary to meet individual family needs, but parents will need to pay an extra $1,000 for this experience dubbed the gold package.

According to Lynda, “if a child loves ‘Harry Potter,’ let’s say, and the standard package offers relay races, on gold, it would be more like Harry Potter trivia races, or if a kid loves Disney, it would be Disney-themed.” There is an on-site expert tasked with training staffers. All on-site staff has gone through an interview and vetting process to play the role of counselors for the program. The camp is ideal for kids between the ages of 5 and 14. However, Danzinger adds that; “if you want six 20-year-olds to have a camp experience, sure, we’ll do it”.

Other booked locations currently include Nevada, Mustang Monument in Wells, the Resort at Paws Up in Greenough, Amangiri in Canyon Point, Utah, and Montana. One of the clients booked Amangiri in Canyon Point, Utah, for a whopping $80,000 per week.

According to Danziger, the ranch destinations are particularly big sellers. “It’s something a lot of luxury travelers have wanted to do, but have never done because these are the same families that every year are going on their regular trips to Saint-Tropez or the Amalfi coast. Now they’re taking the opportunity to do something out of the box. It’s nice to see the 1 percent looking at [America] with a fresh set of eyes and saying, ‘Wow, I live in a beautiful place.”

Danzinger says. Wealthy parents are also opting to send kids to international summer luxury camps in countries where Covid-19 is not yet widespread. Les Elfes International for instance is a summer camp located in Switzerland. Campers pay $9,000 for a three-week stay but this does not include airfare.

American parents have been particularly interested in the camp in recent weeks. According to Les Elfe’s sales and marketing assistant, Carlotta Ceruti, “In the last two weeks, the bookings increased. “Studies have proven that Switzerland is the safest country in the world. “It seems like that news arrived in the US because parents are ready and willing to send their children here”.

A NY post suggests that parents from Los Angeles, New York City, Maryland, Potomac, West Palm Beach, Washington DC, and Florida are sending their kids to Les Elfes, Verbier this summer.

Apart from the ordinary outdoor activities, the classy camp that accommodates children between 6 and 17 years old offers a range of “enrichment workshops”. These include Swiss watch-making and table manners and etiquette. The camp has adopted stringent measures to guarantee safety. For example, they have installed a robot that will monitor the temperatures of staff members and children every day.

Kids will have to undergo testing before arriving at the camp. While they want to send their kids to luxury camps, some New York parents are comfortable with having their children closer home. As a result, they are choosing the Home Camp program that is run by MySuperSitter. The program involves sending trained experts to host camps in the client’s backyard on Long Island and in the city.

The cost of sessions per week for up to six kids is $5,500 for full-day camps. Individual families pay $3,900 per week. Activities include swim sessions, safety lessons, arts and crafts, sports, and a range of outdoor games.

The Lower Manhattan mom we mentioned is spending summer with her family in East Hampton. She signed up for her 4-year-old son for Home Camp with a group of his friends. She chose the Home Camp program after deciding she was not comfortable with sending him to Hampton Country Day Camp again this summer.

She says, “I knew it was not going to look the same as it had, and I didn’t want this new normal to be what my son thinks of when he goes camping”. Her main concern was the requirement to wear masks and having a few kids at the site.

Whether the experience is expensive or not, parents want their children to experience social interaction after months of being in isolation. The Manhattan mom concludes by saying “we are hoping that this can provide these kids with some normalcy. And when I see him with other kids, I might cry with happiness.”

Tips to Help You Make Your Camping experience more Luxurious

Camping, especially amid the coronavirus pandemic that has denied enthusiasts freedom for months is an opportunity to reconnect with nature.

While luxury camps will give you an unforgettable experience, sometimes you may have to let go of some comforts. Do you want to go camping but still maintain some level of sophistication? If you are, read on for tips on how to make your camping stay more luxurious.

·         Purchase the Right Tent

Have you had a bad experience with tents before? If you have, then you need to invest in a proper luxury tent. Often, luxury tents can give you the right balance of ventilation and insulation. Further, they are secure from the wind and are fully waterproof. Luxury tents are large but still easy to set up, which makes your camping experience convenient and cozy.

·         Carry an Airbed

A sleeping bag or sleeping mat provides some comfort for some people. However, carrying an airbed with you could make your nights more comfortable. Some air beds come with a layer of memory foam for more comfort than you would not get from a mattress.

·         Choose Glamping over Camping

Glamping is the idea of staying in a pre-assembled tent complete with furnishings such as chairs and beds. The tent also comes with electrical sockets to help you charge your electrical gadgets. With such provisions, you do not have to carry a tent. Instead, you will be assured of some basic luxuries while still experiencing an intimate camping feel.

·         Carry Your Power Source

Portable power sources are what you need to ensure your electronics are charged fully on the go. Other electric appliances like hairdryers and kettles can make your experience more luxurious. These appliances will come in handy for you if you are planning a long term camping trip.

If you can Afford Luxury Camps go for it

Luxury camps give you an experience of a lifetime. They are an ideal choice for busy parents who want their children to enjoy camping and still be safe. Register today and enjoy an extraordinary camping experience.

What to consider in a summer camp for kids in the era of Covid-19

The best summer camps give children a chance to engage in outdoor activities, learn and nurture their skills, and make new friends. Many schools across the world closed during the spring break following the rise of Covid-19 pandemic infections. As normalcy slowly returns, many parents are searching for a camp program to help their kids meet their peers away from home.

However, Covid-19 infections are still on the rise in different parts of the world. As a result, parents are worried about the safety of their children at a sleepaway camp. Let us discuss some of the factors to consider when looking for an overnight camp for your young campers this summer.

Does the Summer Camp have Strategies in Place to Ensure Kids Comply with Coronavirus Safety Measures?

Summer camp for kids should have age-appropriate methods to ensure kids:

  • Maintain a safe distance from one another
  • Practice proper hygiene
  • All kids aged two years and above wear face coverings where possible

Wearing a mask throughout the day can be difficult for kids. Summer camp supervisors should remind them (the young campers) regularly. Staff at the sports camp should also comply with these safety measures. Supervisors should ensure that hand sanitizing and hand washing facilities are readily accessible.

How will Young Campers Move around During the Summer Program?

Camp organizers should keep kids in small groups complete with allocated staff throughout to reduce the risk of spreading the virus.

Will Activities Be Conducted Outdoors or Indoors?

Having outdoor activities where there is more room to maintain social distance and enjoy fresh air lowers the risk of contracting Covid-19. Still, camp supervisors should have measures in place to prevent the spreading of germs. For example, they can restrict sharing of equipment for performing arts campers. All equipment should be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized after every use.

How will the Summer Camp Monitor Staff and the kids for Sickness?

Enquire from camp directors to understand how they intend to monitor campers and staff for signs of sickness. These measures could include daily temperature checks and evaluation of symptoms. Summer camp supervisors should ensure that staff perform these steps respectfully, safely, and in adherence to privacy laws and the laid down local public health guidelines.

Have the Summer Camp for Kids Staff been Trained to Handle Kids with Special Needs?

Attending camp away from home can be scary for some kids, especially those that have special needs. Some of them are anxious about being in new places and meeting new people. Experts recommend that camp health staff should have specialized training in handling the emotional well-being and overall health of a child.

Camp counselors should have proper training to help campers relax whenever they get stressed. Camp directors should strive to meet the needs of each camper. It is worth mentioning that some kids with special needs require specialized accommodation. These special arrangements help them have a memorable summer camp experience and guarantee safety.

If your kid has special needs, you should discuss it with your private health provider and the camp directors. This way, you will choose a suitable accommodation from the camp options with ease.

What Steps does the Summer Camp Take when Someone Gets Sick?

All basketball camps should have a laid down plan on the measures to take if campers or staff members become sick. The approach should comply with both the WHO and local public health policies and guidelines on responding and reporting suspected Covid-19 cases. Camp directors and supervisors should know where Covid-19 testing centers are and if it is part of the arts camps response arrangement.

How to Enjoy an Engaging and Successful Virtual Summer Camp

One of the most popular public health guidelines of flattening the coronavirus pandemic curve is staying at home. While this is a great plan, it means that enthusiastic campers need alternative ideas to enjoy camp sessions. What a better way to do that than organizing virtual summer camps for kids? Virtual summer camps are becoming popular by the day. Read on to learn how to run one.

Maintain a Simple Virtual Camp Program

Going for field trips may not be possible at the moment. However, this does not mean you cannot have an exciting summer camp experience. Simple game design activities and ideas go a long way in making a virtual summer camp fun for the campers.

Practice if you want to Achieve Perfection

The virtual world is steadily evolving, and there are numerous exciting activities for instructors and campers of different age groups. One of the best methods that instructors can use to acquire a successful instructing approach is to try them. You can organize a virtual summer camp with your kids or friends’ kids. Once the virtual summer camp ends, ask the participants for feedback on what you should change to improve the experience. Camp staff should connect and work together to develop an inventive and engaging approach that works.

Consider Experiences

It is normal to think about a project when it comes to summer camp for kids of a different age group. The idea of a virtual summer camp should not be about completing complex projects. Instead, create an environment where your campers can:

  • Interact and engage with their peers
  • Create, exercise their skills, and express themselves
  • Interact and engage with you

Ensure Activities are Balanced

Maintain a balance between a large group and small group camp activities. Kids get bored fast. One way of keeping them glued to their screens is to keep your performances short and exciting.

A Small Group is Easy to Work with

Experts recommend that every camp supervisor or counselor should handle a group of six campers.

Handling Larger Camp Gatherings

When having activities for large groups of summer camp for kids campers, use polls to make the experience engaging. Surveys are a critical consideration to make when choosing a virtual summer camp conference platform. Shared whiteboards and Q&A chats can be ideal and interactive for large groups.

Choose an Appropriate Virtual Camp Conferencing Platform

Conference platforms are different. While some are perfect for an online summer camp for kids, others are too complex for the kids and instructors to navigate. Choose a conference platform that meets your child’s needs. It should be intuitive without requiring a complicated setup. It should be user-friendly for the instructors and should come with engaging and educational tools. These features can help you run different types of activities.

Embrace Educational Opportunities

A virtual camp has numerous educational benefits for your children, as we shall see below.

  • There have minimal distractions. Young campers listen and focus more keenly to the instructors

  • A virtual camp helps kids develop self-expression skills. During the camping period, the kids should explain any problems they encounter to their instructors verbally, and as accurately as possible. These could include problems with their ID tech connection or sound.

  • It is an ideal way of improving listening skills. Campers soon figure out that they need to listen while another participant speaks and wait for their turn to speak.

How much does a Summer Camp for Kids Cost?

Sending young campers to a summer camp for kids program can be expensive, especially for parents working in the United States. On average, parents in New York City would have to spend $990 per child.

Some parents say they plan to spend more than $2,000 per child for a memorable Manhattan summer camp for kids program. This cost can be high for parents who have more than one child. If you are struggling to find camp options for your kid, you may want to consider nonprofit organizations like YMCA clubs. Many of these offer fun and engaging fine arts for kids in NYC.

High Quality Camp Care Packages for Campers

Once your kids proceed to a summer camp for kids program, you may want to send them a care package. These do not have to be big parcels. Instead, choose a small and simple note, card, or small box of gifts to bring a smile on your child’s face.

Care packages make the kids feel loved and appreciated, especially if they are going for their first summer sleepaway camp. Further, a camp package helps kids beat anxiety and homesickness.

Avoid sending items that will make campers more anxious. Instead, choose something that reminds them to enjoy their visual arts activities at the camp. Some summer camps for kids establishments do not allow parents to send some items. You should read the camp policies to understand what you should or should not send to your child. Here are some tips on things your child will be happy to receive while on camp.

Hilarious Cards

Avoid sentimental love cards as they will only make the kids homesick. Instead, choose hilarious cards that can bring laughter to your kids and their peers. You know your child better. Choose a card that matches their humor expectations.

Glow Sticks

Kids love using flashlights in their sleeping bags. However, they are required to turn off lights a few minutes after retiring to bed. In this case, a glow stick can come in handy, especially for kids who are afraid of the darkness. They can either use them to keep away mosquitoes or light up their lane to the bathroom. Glow sticks are available in various sizes and shapes to appeal to each age group. You can purchase these treasures from your local party accessory supply store.

Some Snacks

Some camps prohibit snacks within the summer camp for kids premises. However, if the camp management allows, choose healthy snacks. You can even prepare them from home.

Small Toys and Games

Some summer camps for kids have a wide range of activities that keep kids engaged. Kids will hardly need toys or even games. However, these can come in handy during the evenings. There are many toy and game options available in the market today, and you can find them at discounted prices. Other gadgets you can include in your camp care package are party noisemakers, stickers, and magnets.

You do not have to send your kids lots of money. One dollar can go a long way to help your kid pay for that afternoon outing activity at the Bronx.

Photos of their Pets

If your kids have a pet, they will be happy to see it and show it off to their new friends.

Disposable Camera

If your kid forgot their high-quality camera, opt to send them a cheap disposable camera for memorable shots. If the summer camp for kids activities involves canoeing and swimming, a cheap underwater disposable camera will be ideal.

Magazine and a Love Note

The aim of sending a camp care package is to make your kid feel loved and appreciated. It should also encourage them to enjoy their summer camp experience. You do not want to make them feel homesick. Your love note should not say more than I love you. If your kid loves reading, then a magazine can go a long way in beating unforeseen low days.

A Welcome Home Card

Just as the summer camp for kids program nears the end, you can send your kids a welcome back home card. Include an invitation to a movie night at the family room or a chicken and pizza picnic at the backyard. Remember to indicate how proud you are of them and that you cannot wait to hear about their experience at the camp.

Exciting STEM Activities for an engaging Summer Camp for Kids Program

Students attending traditional camps often engage in STEM activities (science, technology, engineering, and math). While kids love these activities, their interest may fade away as they grow older.

As STEM careers form a big part of the present-day economy, you should encourage your kids to engage in STEM activities. Today, being techno-savvy, innovative, and knowing why and how things work is critical.

Finding the ideal STEM projects for your kids can be a difficult task. However, some summer camp programs offer specialized STEM activities and lessons depending on their needs. Here are some STEM-based projects for a summer camp that will help give kids critical life skills.

·         Oil Spill

This activity falls under the science and engineering category. It is ideal for kids who are passionate about real issues. The oil spill activity involves mixing water and oil in a container and throwing in some feathers inside.

Give the kids different materials, such as paper towels, sponges, or small spoons. Now have the young campers try to remove the oil from the feathers and water without scooping out too much water.

Let the kids observe the effect of oil on the feathers and how challenging it is to separate it from water. Use this activity to demonstrate the impact of oil spills on the environment. Make this activity easy or difficult, based on the understanding level of the learner. Remember, oil can be messy, and you should exercise caution when dealing with young learners.

·         Coding a LEGO Maze

This STEM activity falls under the technology category. It exposes kids to coding basics and also offers ideas on how to scale it down for younger campers. Summer camp for kids supervisors can even make coding a Lego Maze more complex for high school campers.

This activity comes with free to access printable materials like a wide range of instruction cards and mazes. Kids place themselves in the shoes of a user and arrange varying codes to direct their Lego partner through the maze.

Performing this activity enables kids to learn how to assess the aspect of something else and develop a robust knowledge of command codes, looping, and sequence that can help them understand coding basics.

·        Cloud in a Jar

This STEM activity falls under science and highlights the water cycle, condensation, and states of matter. To perform the cloud in a jar activity, students will need hairspray and water to showcase the formation of clouds. This activity is simple, and children of different age groups can do it. Supervisors can combine this activity with an explanation of how water cycles operate in the environment. Camp supervisors can even organize an early morning outing on a cloudy or foggy day. They can then perform the activity to help kids understand it better.

Crystal Sun Catchers

Crystal suncatchers is a popular activity that falls under the science category. The ingredients you need are readily available at the grocery store and cheap. Campers will have lots of fun when performing this activity with their peers at the summer camp for kids program. This activity involves creating a suncatcher from crystals. You will need the following materials for this activity.

  • Epsom salt
  • Water
  • Clear plastic lids
  • Empty jar
  • Glass measuring cup or bowl
  • Tray
  • Fork
  • Pin, and
  • String

  • Measure one cup of Epsom salt and put it in a jar
  • Heat a cup of water and pour it inside your Epsom salt jar
  • Stir the mixture for approximately two minutes until the salt dissolves
  • Place some plastic lids on a flat tray and place them in a sunny place where there are minimal distractions
  • Pour some of the remaining liquid from the jar in your plastic lids and avoid overfilling
  • Leave them under the sun. Depending on the amount of fluid you added, the crystallization process may take a few hours.
  • Your crystal suncatcher will be ready once the liquid has evaporated completely. Kids will be excited to see beautiful crystal designs from the sides of the lids.

·         Sticky Note Number Match

The sticky note number match activity falls in the math category. You will need a marker, sticky notes, and a sheet of paper that you will tape to the wall. Camp supervisors can help students arrange this movement-based math activity to help children understand numerical values.

This activity does not involve memorizing a list of numbers. Instead, it allows young campers to search for sticky note numbers and fix them on the wall above a series of dots that match them (numbers). Set up for the sticky note number match activity is easy. Children can do it so long as they have all the materials.

Building a Hand Crank Winch

This STEM activity is ideal for kids who love getting crafty and finding out how things work. The winch is a way of helping campers to understand how to develop great things using simple machines. Young campers in a summer camp for kids will need help to construct the winch. Still, camp supervisors can opt for kid-friendly materials such as a spool of ribbon and cardboard paper towel rolls.

Magnetic Slime

Homemade slime activities are ideal for educators and parents searching for fun and exciting kid-friendly activities. The magnetic slime activity becomes even more fun when kids perform it with their peers in a summer camp for kids program. It involves combining magnets and iron oxide, but getting slime consistency can be challenging. Kids can solve any issues by adding liquid starch or glue. The magnet slime activity is a great conversation starter, and kids will have numerous questions about how magnets operate. Camp supervisors should be prepared to answer all questions.

Build a Balance Scale

Build a balance scale is a STEM activity that falls under the science category. You will need a string, cups, and a plastic hanger. Supervisors can help kids create a hanging balance to help them experiment with weights. Encourage the kids to participate in the activity by asking various questions like “how many Legos does your toy weigh?”

Kids can use the scale to weigh a wide variety of materials regardless of their shape. A homemade balance scale is a tool that kids will enjoy creating both at the summer camp and at home.

A Summer Camp for Kids Program is a Perfect Learning Opportunity

Minecraft helps kids create, promotes critical thinking, and improves visual intelligence. However, it is not the only summer camp activity for kids.

Sending your campers on a summer camp for kids helps children participate in other fun activities. These include rock climbing and horseback riding. Will your child be attending a summer camp program this summer? If they are, ensure the facility has in place strict measures to protect them from contracting the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Adam Brooke Explains what you can Expect from Les Elfes

If your kids enjoy outdoor activities, then Switzerland is the ideal place to send them this summer. Adam Brook, the COO of Les Elfes, spoke in an interview on World Radio Switzerland, where he gave comprehensive details about Les Elfes.

Understanding Les Elfes

Les Elfes has been operating since 1987. It started with two bedrooms in a rented chalet and ten beds. Today, Les Elfes has 146 beds. While it has evolved over the years, it still offers exceptional services. Whether you want to go for day camps or prefer sleep away summer camps, you will get these services at Les Elfes. Les Elfes camp attracts kids from various parts of the world.

Adam says that up to 95% of kids who visit the Les-Elfes come from both overseas and Switzerland. Day camps can be ideal for local kids. However, if you are sending your kids from overseas, Adam recommends a sleep away camp where they can remain for two or more weeks. Such will allow them sufficient time to enjoy the great outdoor activities that Les Elfes has to offer.

How a standard day at Les Elfes Looks Like

If the kids are camping for two or more weeks, they will need various activities to keep them occupied. According to Adam, the staff at the camp monitors the kids round the clock to guarantee them safety. However, they wake the kids up at 7.30 am and have an hour to prepare before going for breakfast.

Language lessons at the camp start at 9.00 am, and students can choose from the various languages on offer. These are; Mandarin, French, German, Spanish, and English. Classes run for two hours but can also extend to three hours, especially for kids who are interested in intensive lessons.

After the language lessons, kids proceed for lunch from 01.00 pm. The lunch venue depends on the lined up activities for the day. For example, if the kids will be going bird watching, swimming, or even cycling in the afternoon, the camp can organize a picnic lunch.

Other structured outdoor activities that kids can engage in include rock climbing, mountain biking, and hiking. There is a wide range of water sports activities like banana boating. Afternoon activities end at between 05.00 pm and 05.30 pm in the evening.

A Wide Range of Activities

At Les Elfes, there is a pitch where kids can play football and volleyball. There is also a horse running center onsite. Once they get back to the camp in the evening, some kids prefer relaxing. However, others choose to engage in one of the activities Les Elfes offers before dinner time.

Dinner can be a barbecue in the woods at the camp or some other fun setting. Evening activities begin at 8.00 O’clock before young campers can proceed to sleep. The older campers don’t go to sleep until much later in the evening. Evening activities hardly include watching movies.

The supervisors at Les Elfes try as much as they can to keep the kids away from the screen. Many times campers engage in problem-solving quizzes in a bid to keep them as occupied as possible.

How has Covid-19 Affected Les Elfes?

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way Les Elfes operates. In the past, parents dropping their kids would remain at the camp mingling for long periods. Currently, Adam says they are limiting the number of people visiting the camp.

Everyone has to produce a medical certificate and get checked before they are allowed in. There is a temperature monitoring machine at the reception. Kids and staff members have their temperatures taken and recorded every single day.

Adam says the camp has always had strict hygiene practices from the beginning. However, they are providing hand sanitizers for every child and ensuring they understand how to use them. Cleaning staff will go to every room daily to disinfect everything thoroughly. Sitting arrangement during meal times has also changed to observe laid down social distancing guidelines.

Abiding by social distancing rules during activities can be a difficult task, especially when dealing with kids. However, the camp organizers strive to ensure that kids are safe.

Summer Camp Programme: Understanding Fun and Exciting Activities in Switzerland for UK Residents

Many school children look forward to summer. During this time, schools are closed which means students can spend more time with their peers within a less controlled environment. Further, this is the right moment for kids to sample a summer camp programme depending on their preferences.

Switzerland is one of the most beautiful countries that children from the UK can visit during their summer break. In this article we shall discuss:

  • Differences between the weather in the UK and that in Switzerland
  • Language differences in Switzerland and the UK, and
  • Fun summer camp programme activities in Switzerland for British nationals

What’s the Climate Like in the UK as Compared to Switzerland?

Switzerland usually experiences moderate weather with no extreme humidity, cold, or heat. Temperature between July and August range from 18 to 28 °C. Temperatures between January and February range from -2 to 7 °C. Daytime temperatures in the country in spring and autumn range between 8 to 15 °C.

The climate in the UK on the other hand is temperate. This means the country experiences wet and cool winters and wet and warm summers. London, the capital city of England that lies in the south-eastern part of the UK experiences dry and warm summers and dry and cold winters.

Language Differences between the UK and Switzerland

English is generally spoken in most parts of the UK. Still, there are other native official languages such as Scots and Gaelic spoken in Switzerland, and Welsh spoken in wales.

In Switzerland however, there are four national languages. These are French, German, Romansh, and Italian. This information shouldn’t worry you if you’re planning to send your child to Switzerland for a summer camp programme.

While some summer camps are located in foreign language speaking regions, English is the official language. For instance, Verbier lies in the French-speaking region of Switzerland. This means that French is generally spoken in and out of the Les Elfes summer camp. However, considering that it’s an international camp, English is the official language used here.

The best way to travel from the UK to Switzerland is by rail and the journey takes around 2 hours 15 minutes.

Exciting Activities that Kids from the UK will enjoy in Switzerland

There’s a designated summer camp programme in Switzerland that kids from the UK will enjoy. These activities are ideal for kids aged between 6 and 8 years. The programme is designed to last 14 days.

Campers will have a chance to participate in different activities, as well as learn and enhance their skills. The Les Elfes summer camp programme is structured to ensure that children from diverse backgrounds and cultures live together in harmony.

Further, this programme aims to cater to the developmental needs of young children. What does the programme entail? Let’s discuss this below.

The General Camp Plan

This is an introductory programme where campers are familiarized with general camp activities, life, skills, and adventures. For many children, this is usually their first time being away from home. Some of them will be spending time with other kids from different parts of the world for the first time.

Counselors at the Les Elfes camp are tasked with guiding the kids to help them accept and understand each other. The Les Elfes summer camp programme exposes campers to various daytime fun activities such as swimming, land sports, and archery.

During the evening the campers participate in various exciting activities such as dancing, scavenger hunts, and talent shows. They also roast marshmallows over an open campfire as they share stories about their culture.

Canoeing and Hiking

This summer camp programme advances after the personal growth and skill mentorship programme offered at the general camp plan. Here, campers are encouraged to stick to guidance provided by their supervisors. They are also encouraged to embrace teamwork while exploring by boat or hiking.

This summer camp programme is designed to improve the camper’s athletic, outdoor, and social skills. These activities are specially designed to help participants develop coping skills and self-confidence. There are designated community workers at the camp. They divide the children into smaller groups of 10 to maximize their experience.

Having the kids in small groups is a great way of having participants encourage each other to believe in their abilities. Campers who complete the canoeing and hiking summer camp programme display confidence and display anticipation to beat new challenges.

Leadership Training

This is a summer camp programme that aims to expand a camper’s skills, self-awareness, and knowledge. Participants are taken through progressive workshops and fun activities structured to help them make informed decisions about matters affecting their lives.

The programme covers safe and compelling communication, health and nutrition, drug awareness, and conflict resolution. Campers in the leadership summer camp programme are tasked with planning special events for young campers.

Training with Counselors

To participate in this programme, campers need to have completed the leadership training, and canoeing and hiking plan. The programme relies on skills gained in previous programmes to gauge a camper’s ability. Counselors at the camp are tasked with providing a fun, safe, and refined environment for the campers.

Other activities that are part of this programme include:

Hanging Hoop Target

This summer camp programme activity is similar to the bean bag toss even though it’s more advanced. Children of all skill levels can play hanging hoop target. It’s also convenient and you can hang it outside on anything such as a ladder or even fence. You can also play the game with any object. These can be yarn balls or basketballs.

Just like a bean bag toss, players attempt to pass a ball through any of the three huge holes from a designated distance. Players earn a title such as “All-star” or points depending on the hole they pass the ball through.

Supervisors can change various elements of this activity such as the type of throw and distance. These make the game reusable and exciting.

Rubber and Beanbag Animals

Beanbag animals can transform any activity from boring to fun and exciting. Animals fascinate children of different ages. A pack of rubber frogs or ducks can be all you need to bring back the fun.

Rubber chickens can be incorporated in a game and used for complex throwing and catching games. They can also be used as simple hot potatoes. To make this activity more fun supervisors at the camp can let the children name their animals accordingly.

Rubber and beanbag animals are cost-effective and you can purchase them in large quantities. This way, there will be enough animals for everyone.

Soccer Golf

Today, both adults and children love playing soccer. In this case, supervisors at the camp assume the part of a coach while the students become the players. The game is similar to mini-golf. However, students use soccer balls and exclusive flags and holes where the ball can rest in once they get inside the hole.

To play this game, children can be arranged in large teams or pairs with the hole being some distance away. You can use this concept for disc golf if the kids are interested. This is a fun outdoor activity that both adults and children can indulge in.

How is the Summer Camp Programme Schedule Like?

Campers wake up between 0730hrs and 0800hrs. Various activities are planned for the morning session after breakfast. The remaining daytime activities take place in the afternoon after lunch.

Campers are allowed an hour’s rest after lunch meals before embarking on the afternoon session. In the evening, campers can converge around the campfire and share interesting stories about their countries of origin. This is also the right moment for the kids to bond and make new friends.

Three delicious and nutrition-rich meals are served every day while a snack is offered every evening. Campers go to sleep at 2100hrs.

Make a Fun Summer Camp Schedule

A good summer camp schedule can attract more campers and also determine the outcome of a camping trip.

Incorporating Activities in the Schedule

Having the ultimate camping location is critical when it comes to maximizing camper’s experience. You also need the best theme for the summer camp vacation if you want participants to make the most out of it. If you lack a compelling summer camp activity schedule your planning efforts become futile.

There are numerous summer camp activities you can include in your summer camp plan. Remember the activities you choose play a big role in determining whether the campers will enjoy the experience.

Your activity scheduling strategy is what helps you carve a niche for yourself in the industry. To achieve success, you should first list down the activities you plan to include in the camping session.

From there, you’ll need to invest more time in scheduling the activities accordingly. There are various factors to consider when creating a summer camp schedule of activities. Remember, you should focus on ensuring that campers are happy and not just bored and drained.

The integration of activities and timing for a week or day should be appropriately planned. Are you planning a summer camp trip? Are you struggling with creating an adequate summer camp schedule? Here are tips to help you do it like a professional.

Be Organized

A qualified camp coordinator is one who displays a sense of organization when developing a summer camp schedule. One way of showing organization is by having the right tools for the task. These include journals, papers, pens, online notes, and diaries.

You need to prepare all the tools necessary for note taking. Avoid relying on mental notes because you’ll end up forgetting vital information. Some organizers opt to use schedule templates that are readily available online. While these will make your work easier, you may have to customize them to meet the individual needs of the campers.

Ensure Your Schedule is All-Inclusive and Engaging

An engaging summer camp schedule keeps campers stimulated and excited throughout the day. Your schedule should incorporate physically, mentally, and emotionally stimulating activities. This will ensure that campers get the ultimate positive effect. Children can follow the timeline to engage in and discover different things within a day.

Have a Timeline in Your Schedule

Create a timeline depending on the activities you plan to have in your schedule. Your timeline should have a starting time, activity time, time for refreshments, break time, and activity completion time.

Ensure your timeline covers everything that you have planned for the day. Assign sufficient time for each activity and create some allowance for last-minute changes, arising issues, or delays. The timeline should be flexible to guarantee effectiveness.

Ensure Your Summer Camp Schedule has a Good Connection and Flow

Some summer camps only focus on a single activity which means that campers have to contend with the same. Ensure the camp you choose provides a variety of activities that match its theme. There has to be continuity when it comes to the activities provided to ensure that children get the best out of the trip.

Spread the activities evenly over the days and incorporate something new every day. This way, children will be curious and excited to find out what’s planned for subsequent days. At Les Elfes, there are numerous summer camp activities to keep campers excited both during the day and in the evening.

Always have a Plan B

It’s important to understand that things don’t always work according to plan. Disruptions, changes, or issues that crop up at the last minute can interfere with your original schedule. In this case, lacking a plan B can disrupt the entire trip. An alternative plan will come in handy to ensure campers don’t waste their camping days or time. This will also boost your reputation as the camp schedule coordinator.

Include Free Days in Your Summer Camp Schedule

An effective schedule should have no activity days where children can be free to engage in an activity of their choice. They could take this time to make friends or bond with their newly found peers. Children can also write down their camping experience in their journals. They could even focus on learning each other’s cultures. Regardless of what they choose to do supervisors should monitor them accordingly.

Check what Your Competitors are doing

The camping industry is fast becoming highly competitive and this means you have to work extra harder to stay ahead of your competitors. What a better way of doing so than checking what your competitors are already doing. Always conduct research and this will help you create the best summer camp schedule for your campers.

Use the statistics you acquire from your research to learn and understand how you can create a better schedule. Establish what can work depending on the camper’s individual needs, and what won’t work. While you may have your ideas, researching and referring to what other players in the industry are doing helps you avoid mistakes.

Create a Balance

Have an entire week’s plan but distribute activities per day. This way the kids the schedule won’t be overwhelming to the kids. What’s more, you’ll have an easy time making changes on the schedule should anything pop up midweek.

Remember, children will get exhausted in between activities. Consider including snack breaks on your summer camp schedule. Ensure your list of activities has a good balance of field trips and in-house tasks. For instance, you can allow the campers some time to walk around the camping destination. This will help them discover more information about the location such as its history and culture.

Whether you’re planning an overnight or day summer camp, having a schedule of events is critical. With a well-organized summer camp activity schedule, parents will beware of what their kids will be doing at specific times. It will also help the kids understand the activities they’ll be engaging in for the day.

To make the entire camping experience fun and exciting, always hand over plans the day before. This way, campers will be ready for the activities of the day on time. Sign up today to find out more about summer camps.

Choosing the Best Summer Camp

The growing popularity of summer camping has led to an influx of camps. While you can be guaranteed of getting a facility that best meets your child’s needs, choosing the right camp can be difficult. Here are some tips to ease the summer camp selection process.

Benefits for Students of a Summer Camp 2020 Program

Is your child interested in outdoor sports? Perhaps they need motivation to engage in other extra-curricular activities. A summer camp 2020 program could be all they need. Here’s how students will benefit from participating in a summer camp.

·        Summer Camps Helps Students Develop Unique Interests

Today, many schools focus on developing kids academically and forget that kids also need to engage in extracurricular activities. Only a few schools today offer archery, design classes, or even entrepreneurship.

The good news is that you can find all these in various summer camps in Europe. This means if your child has shown any interest in non-academic subjects or even sports they can nurture their interests in a summer camp.

Various organizations such as robotics and sports clubs today have collaborated with schools to offer after-school lessons. However, these don’t necessarily create the perfect environment to concentrate.

What’s more, doing so would burden students who already have to deal with homework and preparing for examinations. In this case, a summer camp offers the right surrounding for your child to pursue other interests.

  • Helps Students make New Friends

Summer camp offers your child many activities to choose from. They also get a chance to interact with other students from various parts of the world and make lasting friendships. When students interact with like-minded peers they can develop friendships with ease founded on similar interests.

In the end, these relationships can lead to more collaboration in the future. This is especially true today because people can still connect and network regardless of where they come from. Such collaborations could even lead to the formation of new businesses.

A Summer Camp 2020 Program Allows Students to Focus on Developing New Skills

While some schools offer a wide variety of activities, summer camp provides the ultimate environment for kids to delve deeper. Students will have an entire week just to focus on the things they love.

Does your child want to learn a unique sport such as Lacrosse? Perhaps they want to delve into the world of coding. Regardless of their interests, summer camp is the way to go. During summer camp children get a chance to leave their comfort zones and take on risks. Further, they can gain new skills without the fear of failure.

  • Camps help Stimulate Mental and Physical Activity

Are you worried that your children aren’t exercising enough? If you are, then sending them to a boys and girls summer camp will help keep your children active. Instead of spending time on their gadgets playing games, camp stimulates their thinking. In the end they’ll start focusing on developing the games rather than just playing.

  • Summer Camp Promotes Empowerment and Independence

Every parent wants to think that their children are independent. However, the best test for their independence comes with allowing them time on their own. Without their parents around they’ll have no option but to make their own decisions.

Whether it’s about making their beds, brushing their teeth, or even handling time management, this will be a learning opportunity. Camp gives children a chance to make decisions on their own.

In the process they end up learning and discovering more about themselves. Further, they get to rely on their peers for support whenever the need arises. Being away from home means the children will have to be responsible enough to choose right from wrong.

  • Camps Promote Confidence

Every activity and growth comes with challenges and successes. Summer camps expose your child to new activities they probably haven’t heard about before. Sometimes these activities will be a continuation of what they are already familiar with.

For example, assuming that the children have played basketball before, but they’ve never participated in a competition. By representing their group in a competition at the camp, they’ll become more confident. At the end of the camping trip they’ll be confident enough to play on their school’s basketball team. This could pave the way for their successful basketball careers in the future.

  • Camps help Students Exercise Creativity

Unlike in a classroom setting where students are afraid of failing, camps provide an ample and unrestricted environment for students to excel. The fact that there is no grading encourages students to be themselves. Creativity in children and adults alike thrives where there’s freedom of expression and little judgment.

  • Camps Develop General Resilience

All the aforementioned benefits are critical to your child’s development as they transition from being children to considerate, determined, and capable adults.

  • Camps Encourages Students to be Grateful

Being away from home helps children appreciate their parents and siblings. They’ll also learn how to be thankful for things they didn’t have at the camping facility. These include a home-cooked meal, their toys, and pets.

  • Helps them Appreciate the Outdoors

One of the main characteristics of all summer camps is the chance to be outdoors nearly all the time. Even when camping in urban summer camps, children will have access to exciting outdoor activities and field trips. This type of exposure enables children to love and uniquely appreciate nature. Nature appreciation is a critical component to instill in children from an early age.

How to Deal with Cultural Differences while on Summer Camp

Summer camps in Verbier are not only diverse, but they also employ staff from various parts of the world. Further, campers visit Les Elfes from across the globe. As a result, effective interaction and communication with each other become necessary.

Learning the basic aspects of other cultures helps you avoid misunderstandings or even hurting others involuntarily. Here are some tips to help campers interact with one another peacefully.

  • Effective Communication

Communicating with people who have the least idea about cultural differences can be a difficult task. For instance, a simple smile or even nod of the head can be portrayed differently from what you meant.

In some cultures, a smile depicts a range of emotions and not only pleasure or even happiness as is the case in the USA. Take Japan, for instance, people smile when they are confused, angry, sad, and happy. Asians, just like the Japanese smile to illustrate frustration, confusion, anger, and disagreement.

Some people from Asia and Japan hardly smile for official photos. According to them, these are serious occasions that should be treated with the seriousness they deserve. They believe that smiling would make the occasions appear to be less important.

Eye contact is perceived differently in various parts of the globe as well. For instance, if you notice a staff member avoiding eye contact when you speak you shouldn’t take offense. People from some cultures especially Latin Americans and Asians avoid direct contact to show respect.

  • Time and Names

People in some regions such as the USA usually call others by their names. This however, doesn’t happen for all cultures. Here, summer camp 2020 program supervisors will have to offer guidelines on how campers should address the staff or one another.

Further, the children should learn how to address their peers by their names. They can even discuss what each other’s names mean and the culture behind it. Even when campers have difficulties pronouncing each other’s names, it’s important to keep on practicing their pronunciation until they master it.

  • Beating Language Barriers

Language differences make communication hard. However, you can still communicate effectively with a little creativity. For example, talk clearly and slowly. Restrain yourself from shouting at people if they don’t seem to understand what you’re saying.

Find a different way of communicating or repeat what you said more slowly. Further, you want to avoid using common idioms and slang as much as possible. These can trigger confusion among non-native English speaking individuals. Otherwise, chances are that a big percentage of the people you speak with won’t have an idea of what you keep on mentioning.

Encourage your children to learn some common phrases in other languages from their fellow campers. They should also try and teach their friends some phrases in their language. This will not only help them connect better, but it plays a huge role in helping them understand other cultures. Always remember, what seems normal to you may be different to people from other cultures.

For instance, some cultures can’t decline a request, and others will give an affirmative answer when what they mean is no. This is where supervisors at the camp come in handy. They’ll brief the children to create an ample and accommodating environment for everyone.

  • Dining and Food

When and what people eat varies across the globe. In some cultures, people eat the main meal at midday and enjoy a light meal in the evening. Some conventional summer camp 2020 trips may seem different to international staff and campers. For instance, eating watermelon and spitting the seeds, or serving corn with the cob, may raise eyebrows among international students.

You may want to know that in some countries corn with the cob is usually fed on animals. When faced with such a scenario, it’s always good to explain some foods and the culture behind them. This will help you understand why some people never eat what to you is a favorite meal.

Campers can also discuss common foods in their countries during their free time or in the evening by the campfire. Camp supervisors can even organize a special evening where students feed on food from a certain country. Campers from that specific country can then explain it to their peers.

Some cultures don’t accept food when it’s offered for the first time. Rather than giving up on them, you should try offering the food a second and even a third time until everybody has had their share. If some campers are from Saudi Arabia or Asia you may notice that they’ll be overly noisy when eating.

This habit may be particularly annoying to a big percentage of students from other parts of the world. However, they only do so not because they are bad-mannered but as a sign of appreciation. Rather than getting annoyed, other campers can seek clarification just to understand the origin of the culture.

Learning about, and respecting other people’s cultural differences helps create an ample environment for seamless interactions. By adopting an open and objective mind, both campers and camp staff gain from the international influence a summer camp 2020 program creates.

Preparing your children for summer camp

Whether you plan on sending your kids for an overnight or day camp, preparation is critical to ensure they have a fulfilling experience. Use these tips to ease the process.

  • Develop Practical and Positive Expectations for the Summer Camp

Before you can send your child to summer camp it’s important to review available offers. This will help the children understand what to expect from the experience. Involve them in the preparation process and help them set practical goals on what they want to achieve from the experience.

For instance, assuming they plan to invest more time in engaging in their favorite activity such as playing basketball. At the end of the camping experience they’ll have enhanced their skill level.

However, they may not achieve this from a short term summer camping trip. In this case, you’ll need to plan for a long-term camping trip to help them get the most out of the experience. At the end of the trip both you and your child will enjoy the outcome.

  • Encourage them to Engage in new Interests

Summer camp gives children an opportunity to discover and engage in new interests such as the arts, sports, and crucial skill-developing activities. Is your child a technology or sporting enthusiast? If they are, a summer camp 2020 vacation is an ideal to: try new skills, take risks, make mistakes, and learn from them without worrying about grades.

Within an open and supportive environment, children will get the encouragement to experiment. This develops confidence and resilience from an early age.

  • Organize a Drill before the Actual Summer Camp

Are your children attending a day or week-long summer camp? Conducting a drill is one of the ways to help them get an idea of what to expect. Let them understand and master the camp routine. For example, ensure they understand when they’ll wake up in the morning and what will be required of them then.

Review and have them understand what they’ll need to carry along with them each day. You’ll also want to ensure that they understand how to arrange their summer camp 2020 essentials to facilitate easy access. If your child will be attending an overnight camp for the first time you’ll need to ensure they’re well prepared.

Start by sending them on sleepovers with friends and family and be on the lookout for how they cope. This is a great way of gauging your child’s preparedness for being away from home. Children who cope easily with different summer camp setups are usually better prepared academically.

  • Ensure they Understand Safety Skills at Summer Camp

Will your child be attending a day, overnight, or a long term summer camp experience? Make sure you teach them age-appropriate self-care, and safety techniques. For instance, if they will be participating in sports encourage them to stay hydrated.

You can successfully achieve this by providing them with attractive child-friendly water bottles. This way, they won’t forget to drink their water. Include enough sunscreen in their packages to use during outdoor activities

Is your child a poor feeder at home? If they are you’ll want to discuss it with them in advance. Let them understand the importance of eating well-balanced meals to maintain their energy levels while camping.

Some studies show that poor feeders will eat better when in the company of their peers. If your child is a poor or picky eater, perhaps all you need to change their ways is send them to summer camp.

Even though reputable summer camps will have basic first aid tools, packing a personal first aid kit ensures children are ready for anything.

  • Have a Communication Strategy

If your child will be attending day camp, create time for them to share what they learned and their overall experience about the camp.

Communication for kids attending overnight camps can be difficult especially because many facilities don’t allow the use of phones. However, you can still work out a way through which they can share their lessons and experiences as well.

A good way of doing so is getting them a diary and pens. Let them document everything at the end of each day that they’ll be at the camp. You can have one of the supervisors send these to you. Better still, you can evaluate your child’s feedback once they get back from the trip.

CDC Summer Camp 2020 Guidelines

The CDC has released guidelines that camp administrators should adhere to so as to prevent infections. Some of these measures include:

  • Staying at home as much as possible
  • Thorough and regular hand washing practices
  • proper respiratory hygiene
  • Regular cleaning and disinfecting of surfaces
  • Proper ventilation
  • Limit camp attendance to campers and staff who live within the geographical area
  • Add physical barriers between beds and bathroom sinks
  • Cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces, and
  • Maintaining social and physical distance

As much as you’d want to keep the communication alive, sometimes there could be limitations. Rather than getting worried, it’s good to believe that the kids are in good hands and they’ll be fine at the end. This gives you peace of mind and also allows the children an opportunity to discover themselves and learn to be independent.

Enroll your child for summer camp 2020 program today and allow them to experience the outdoors away from home.

Best Summer Activities for Kids in Moscow, Russia

Moscow is a vast metropolis filled with numerous activities that can keep your children busy. From ice caves, riverboats, and futuristic parks, here are some fun kids summer activities in Moscow Russia.

·         Traffic Signs

Draw two lines and maintain between three to six meters between them. Designate one child to be the leader or “traffic sign,” and have them stand between the lines. The other kids should be behind the leader and one of the drawn lines.

The leader will then call out a random color and have the other kids find it on their clothes. The kid who spots the color will then show it and cross to the opposite line. The leader will attempt to grab them before they can make their way across. The kid who gets caught will remain in place.

·         Hot potato

For this activity, kids will have to stand in a ring and toss a ball to one another. Children shouldn’t hold onto the ball for long since it’s assumed to be a hot potato. Kids who hold it for long or drop it will have to sit inside the ring and become the hot potato. The idea here will be to catch the ball while seated. If the kid catches it, then they can go back to the ring. The child from whom the ball was caught will then sit inside the ring.

·         I Know Five Names

Here, every participant will bounce a ball and on each bounce call out an item from a particular list. For instance: I know five species of dogs, I know five mountains, and I know five species of wild cats. Once the child is done, he’ll pass the ball to the next participant to play. The participant who either takes too long to think or loses the ball should release the ball and repeat their topic.

·         Ring

This is an ancient girly game that can be traced back to the 19th century. While this game has evolved over the years, the main feature which in this case is a ring remains. However, you can use other small items such as a button or coin.

All participants sit in a line with their hands curled up together. Their leader, however, will be clutching a ring. She’ll then approach the other participants one by one. All this time, she’ll try to place the ring in one of the player’s hands without the others noticing. The other participants will watch carefully to try and identify where the ring has been placed.

Once the leader is done with the line she’ll shout “Ring-ring, come out to the porch.” The participant with the ring will then run out and the other participants will have to stop her. If she manages to get away she’ll become the new leader.

It’s Time to go Summer Camping: Switzerland is the safest country in the world for COVID!

Life took a sudden turn when COVID-19 was declared a global pandemic. With no one unable to predict when everything will be back to normal, summer camping ventures were put on hold. While the world is still grappling with the pandemic, many countries have adopted stringent measures to bring it under control.

Currently, Switzerland stands at position one to become the safest country in the world for the novel coronavirus. This is exciting news, especially for hot weather tent camping enthusiasts. It’s time to go summer camping again.

One of the Most Covid-19 Affected Regions

Switzerland has been one of the most affected countries by the coronavirus in Europe. Up to 30,934 people have been infected out of which 1,923 have since died. A recently released report revealed that the rate of infections in the country has continued to decline. The rate of mortality and spread has also declined.

The study analyzed various factors that are critical to the re-opening of the economy while still ensuring that residents are safe. Here are the factors and how Switzerland scored to move from number 11 to become the safest country in the world.

  • Quarantine efficiency – 144 points
  • Government efficiency – 188 points
  • Healthcare readiness – 101 points
  • Regional resiliency – 93 points
  • Monitoring and detection – 131 points
  • Emergency preparedness – 95 points

As a result of these impressive scores, the government has been relaxing the stringent restrictions while ensuring residents remain safe. Researchers involved in this study were quoted saying:

“In our previous safety and risk assessment, regions which had very high levels of emergency preparedness and a capacity to efficiently manage national crises achieved the highest score because they had the greatest likelihood of managing the early stages of the pandemic. However, now that it has become clear who did and did not succeed to face that first wave optimally, and as regions begin to prepare for relaxing lockdown conditions and economic freezing mandates, it is the factors which impact their capacity to withstand the future of COVID-19, and to prevent economic fallout without sacrificing public health and safety and the risk of second waves of infection, that take on the greatest levels of importance moving forward.”

There’s still a lot to do

Even though Switzerland is currently leading, the government should adopt measures to ensure residents remain healthy and the economy thrives post the pandemic. According to the report, one of the most effective ways of doing so is by cutting down the country’s dependency on export-related income. Authors of this report also noted that:

“Switzerland has proven to be a fundamental actor in the fight against Covid-19 and its management scheme a model to keep in view, but it is important that the reopening process of the Swiss economy is carried out with caution, assessing the dynamics of the virus, otherwise all the sacrifice and joint work of citizens, government and organizations will have been meaningless,”

You can now Go Summer Camping!

Following the relaxing of the COVID-19 restrictions, you can now allow your children to go for summer camping trips. The Swiss government has put in place stringent measures to ensure campers are safe throughout the camping session. For example, only a limited number of campers can attend camp at a time.

Summer camps have laid down strategies on how to operate their camping sites while adhering to the laid down measures. This means you shouldn’t worry about missing out especially if you had booked in advance. How will summer camps ensure that campers are safe? Read on to find out.

Regular Screening

Screening on the campers and staff at the camp should be done regularly. Children attending day-time summer camp should be screened at the drop-off point. Part of the screening process should involve checking body temperature and asking families about exposure and symptoms. Campers who have a fever and those that report any exposure should stay at home. Anybody who’s sick should also be encouraged to stay at home.

Parents and their children should be screened every day. While screening is important, it’s worth mentioning that between 15 to 45% of people are asymptomatic (showing no symptoms) even when infected. This means that while screening will reduce risk, it won’t eliminate it.

Stay Outdoors where Possible

According to the CDC, outdoor activities are less likely to expose you to the virus. This is because maintaining a safe distance is easy to achieve while outside than when indoors. Due to this campers should engage in outdoor-related activities as much as possible. Any indoor related activities such as arts and crafts should also be done from outside.

In case of poor weather, summer camps may want to postpone especially if they’re unable to adhere to social distancing requirements. As summer camps resume, Les Elfes has put in place measures to ensure that campers and staff are safe.

Part of their plan includes having proper camping essentials such as masks and soap and water to facilitate hand washing. Frequently touched surfaces at the camp are also disinfected regularly and hand sanitizers are strategically located in various areas. Further, supervisors will talk to the campers every day on how to protect themselves and others from getting infected.

Staff and Camp Supervisors should be Cautious both Inside and Outside the Camp

During pre-Covid times, it didn’t matter how people spend their weekends and evenings. Today, however, what you do may expose you to the virus. Due to this, staff and supervisors should be cautious during off-hours to avoid contracting the virus and introducing it to the campers. The camper’s families too should be cautious during their day to day activities.

Remember, any action you take during these uncertain times can expose you and those that you love to the virus. When all the parties involved remain vigilant, we’ll not only keep each other safe, but we shall also beat the virus.

What about Overnight Summer Camp?

Overnight camp can be both risky and safe. How can a camping facility run an overnight camp effectively while ensuring that everybody involved is safe? The facility may demand that every registered camper self-quarantines before the summer camping trip.

The camp can then have strategies in place to test all attendants on arrival. They can also promote strict self-distancing practices and have everyone wear their masks. Campers should maintain a safe distance from one another even during meal times. The camp can run more tests after one week.

If no one tests positive, then they can be sure that the camp is virus-free. Does this mean that campers will be free to engage in activities and mingle together freely? This will depend on whether the camp remained closed to visitors during the quarantine season. If no visitors came in, then campers can engage in their favorite activities without risk of contracting COVID-19.

Campers, Counselors, and Staff should Strictly Remain at the Camp

To ensure that the camp remains virus-free, campers, counselors, and the staff should remain inside the camp for the entire camping period. Further, no visitors from outside should be allowed at the camp. Remember, whatever makes summer overnight summer camps safe could also make them riskier.

Summer camp enthusiasts travel from far to get to their preferred camping centers. Should any of them test positive or develop coronavirus related symptoms, then there wouldn’t be a nearby quarantine facility. Infected kids would have to return home. Assuming that kids developed symptoms while at the camp, the supervisors would have no option but to cancel the event.

In the end, all the parties involved will be left with frustrations having wasted an entire summer. Still, personal health is more critical than the fun that comes with going summer camping. Supervisors at Less Elfes are committed to ensuring that campers are safe and protected at all costs.

Parents can be assured that players at the facility will do everything to ensure children go back home virus free. This strategy is designed for overnight summer camps that run for more than two weeks. They should also have in place strict guidelines on arriving and leaving the camp. In this case, all the participants should arrive on the same day and remain inside the camp until the event is over.

Can Summer Camps be Safe and Still be Affordable?

Currently, many families are struggling to meet their basic needs. This means they won’t afford camp if the process of making them safer raises costs. What can camps do to make the premises safe but affordable?

Camps should avoid a situation where only people who can afford camp achieve safety while those who can’t are exposed to danger. To make camp affordable and safe for all, authorities can pledge public funds to camps. When camps start operating again they’ll be helping the economy.

More parents can go back to work while the kids enjoy their time at summer camp. Summer camps can even serve as an example for schools as they prepare for re-opening. Players should strive to determine the best way to ensure that kids are safe in groups. Achieving success in summer camps increases the chances of succeeding in school.

People across the world have been under quarantine for a long time now. You can break this routine by attending summer camp as a family, or sending your children on a summer camping trip. Switzerland is currently the safest place to go summer camping in the time of coronavirus.

Book a slot today so that your child doesn’t miss out on the next summer camping event.

Summer Camps Sleepaway: How to Choose the Best for Your Child

If you are considering sending your children on a camps sleepaway vacation, there are various factors you should consider.

First, you’ll want to ask yourself the following questions. Are the kids old enough to attend a sleepaway camp? Where will they be staying? Does the camp offer child-friendly activities?

Today, camping is a popular practice for both children and adults, especially in summer. With the many overnight camps available today, choosing the best for your child can be a difficult task. Here are tips to ease the process.

Define Your Expectations

Before choosing a sleepaway camp it’s important to define your expectations. Figure out what you want your child to achieve from the camping experience.

Do you want them to meet and mingle with other children with whom they have similar interests? If you do, choose a camp that offers their favorite subjects. Do you want to keep them occupied and active when school is out with a combination of outdoor and indoor activities? In this case, an academic camp would come in handy to keep them intellectually active.

Involve Children in the Planning Process

The main objective of sending your child to a camps sleepaway trip is to ensure they enjoy their stay. Involving them in the planning process plays a huge role in achieving this success. If you have teenage children, for example, they may frown at the idea of an overnight camp.

However, by involving them, they get a chance to choose a camp program that best caters to their needs. For example, they may be more interested in going to sports camps with their peers.

The idea here should be to find programs that cater to their current interests. Involve the child from scratch to ensure you’re reading from the same page. Remember, your child will only benefit from the camp program if they’re interested in the same.

Decide Whether Your Child is Ready for a Sleepaway Camp

Determining whether or not your child is ready to go for a camps sleepaway trip is not just about their ages. Determine this by their willingness to attend sleepovers alone. Some children will be comfortable with being away from home from a younger age.

Others, on the other hand, might show little interest even when they are older. Here are some tips to help you figure out whether your child is ready to go for a sleepaway camp.

·         If they can Maintain their Personal Hygiene

Counselors and supervisors at the camp will remind children to shower and brush their teeth. However, the child should be able to do these tasks on their own. While camp helps campers become independent, a child should already be conversant with various tasks such as bathing.

·         If they are Pestering You to Go for an Overnight Camp

Is your child asking for your permission to attend camps sleepaway events? If they are, chances are that they are ready to experience a different adventure for some days. Still, some children have to be pushed to think about going camping. Ensure your child is comfortable with the idea and avoid forcing them to do something they don’t like.

·         They’ve Successfully bee Away for Sleepovers

Has your child attended a sleepover at their friend’s or relative’s house? If they have, what was their experience like? Did they connect with their friends? Did they manage to sleep comfortably?

Were they anxious? If they have been to several successful sleepovers this is a good sign that they are ready for camps sleepaway. Remember, you’ll need to speak to your child about getting homesick and how they can overcome it while on camp.

Choose the Right Category

Once you’ve defined your camps sleepaway expectations, select the different programs that can help you meet them. Here are some popular camp categories to choose from.

·         Art Camps

Art camps allow campers to focus on developing their creative interests with their peers. Some camps allow campers to engage in 3D printing and computer-oriented design while others focus on visual arts, drawing, and painting.

·         Academic Camps

These camps are designed to ensure that children continue learning even when schools are closed. Academic camps offer a great combination of extracurricular and education-based activities. They often focus on topics that are hardly taught in schools such as skill development.

Academic camps are a perfect way of educating students who hardly cope with traditional instructions. They allow students to target a specific academic skill or activity and advance it throughout the camp session.

At Les Elfes for instance, there are various programs to choose from. These include language arts, math, photography, theater, and computer-based studies.

·         Athletic Camps

These are ideal for sporty children who are interested in learning new skills in summer. They also help keep teenagers and young children active when schools are closed.

·         Adventure Camps

These camps are engaging and fun, and a great way of engaging in new challenges and experiences. These can be similar to an ordinary outdoor camp with a special activity such as field trips, hiking, going for nature hunts.

·         Special Needs Camp

These are specially designed to create the perfect environment for campers who are unable to attend normal summer sleepaway camps. This could be due to emotional, mental, and physical challenges. Camper to staff ratios, in this case, is low to guarantee exclusive attention. This helps create a comfortable environment to meet the children’s needs.

Choose a Camp that Doesn’t Interfere with Your Schedule

Ensure the camp program you choose fits in with any family commitments or vacations you may have for summer. Start your search for the best camp early before registration deadlines hit. Consider contacting the camp if you have any inquiries to make.

Consider Camps that Offer a Wide Variety of Activities

If you’re trying to establish your children’s interests consider camp programs that offer a wide range of activities. Many summer sleepaway camps offer different activities that enable children to determine their interests.

If your child chooses a particular program it should be what they’re interested in pursuing. Choose a program that will nurture your child to become the best version of themselves, and not what you expect them to be.

Summer camps sleepaway vacations are ideal opportunities for children to engage in new challenges and experiences. Use these tips to establish the best camps that will be benefit your kids. Enroll your child for the next summer camp and enjoy friendly discounts.

Camping Games for the Whole Family

Whether your campsite will be in your backyard or out in the wilderness, camping games are ideal during the summer season. Playing family games together is a proper way of strengthening your relationships. Further, you get to spend valuable time with the people you love. What a better way to relax and break away from the hustles and bustles of daily life? Here are some nature scavenger hunt inspired games you can try.

·         I Spy

·         Card Games

There are numerous card games available for players of all ages, such as Kings Corners. Two players can play this game, where each receives seven cards. The remaining cards are then placed in a pack, face down, in the middle of the playing area.

A player then snaps four cards from the stack and puts them to the east, west, north, and south of the pile. Players take turns playing their cards lower in position and a different color on the packs. Players place the kings in the corners, and once the feeder pile is gone, the first player that runs out of cards wins.

·         Park Ranger

To play this game, you need a big playing area complete with preset boundary lines. Choose one player from the group to become the park ranger. He (park ranger) will start in the middle of the playing area while the other players stand shoulder to shoulder in a line in front of the park ranger. Each player will pick the animal they want to be, but not reveal it to the other players. The park ranger will announce features that the other participants’ animals should have. What happens if a participant’s animal lacks a characteristic the park ranger mentions? They have to run through the area before the park ranger labels them. The park ranger attempts to tag as many people as he can. Tagged players will become trees where they remain stationary without moving their feet. The last person who does not become a tree wins.

·         Scavenger Hunt

A scavenger hunt is one of the great games to include in your camping activities list. Prepare a list of things that campers may find on the trail. You can also get a printable scavenger hunt list on the internet. Let them mark off the objects they see instead of collecting them. Adults should confirm the finds and the first camper who discovers all the objects will receive a gift.

·         Campfire Games

Apart from roasting marshmallows by the campfire, there are other games that campers can play in the evening. All that young and older kids need to play campfire games is enough warmth and creativity.

·         The Telephone Game

To play this game, players should sit shoulder to shoulder. The participant sitting at the beginning of the line creates a long sentence. They then whisper it to the player seated to the right, who then whispers it to the next person. The last person on the finish line will repeat the sentence loudly and will not be the same as it was in the beginning.

·         Twenty Questions

Participants play this game in turns. One player thinks of an object, and the other participants can ask twenty questions to figure out what the item is. The player who has the answer can only respond to yes or no questions.

·         Name That Tune

Participants will take turns playing this game. One player will hum a specific tune for approximately a minute while the others try to guess the song. The participant who makes most correct guesses becomes the winner.

·         Camping Trip

Camping trip is a fun game that kids will enjoy. Each child repeats: “I’m going on a camping trip and I’ll bring…” they will then say what they will bring from their camping trip. The trick here is that the players must complete their phrases with an item whose name begins with the preceding letter. For example, if the first person will be bringing acorns, the next player must bring an object whose name starts with letter B like Bananagrams.

·        Two Truths and a Lie

To play this game, campers around the campfire will share three details about themselves. Two of them will be true, and one will be a lie. The rest of the players must guess the lie correctly.

·         Charades

Charades is an ideal campfire game for a small or large group. Have the participants write down some camping ideas to try on pieces of paper, and put them in an empty coffee mug or hat. Move around the campfire clockwise, pick slips, and act out hints to the phrase you choose until the other participants guess it right. Winners can enjoy s’mores by the campfire.

·         Glow in the Dark Jenga Games

Jenga is a miniature piling block game that is fun to play both during the day and in the evening by the campfire. You can purchase the stacking blocks from Amazon. Jenga games will bring out the fun on a rainy day.

·         Cornhole

Cornhole is ideal for small campsites because it does not include lots of running around. To play this game, form a group of two or four people and have them stand 25 feet apart. Each group should have a board with a hole cut through it. Every team member will toss beanbags and try to pass them in the hole. The first team that gets 21 points becomes the winner. What happens if you do not have boards? In this case, you will need to exercise your creativity. Sketch a goal on the ground and toss pine cones.

Active Camping Games

These outdoor games are ideal in a spacious place and require more movement. They are perfect for energetic children.

·         Knot Tying

You can make this a knot-tying challenge. Ensure each child can tie and untie a knot before the game begins. Assign one participant as the timekeeper, and let the players compete to tie up the perfect knot. Organizers can set the game up in barrier course format with different knot tying stations on various items. The first player to tie and untie the appointed knots becomes the winner.

·         Go Fish Yourself Game

Go-fish is a fun game that is perfect for the whole family. Up to 6 players can play at once. You will need a sense of humor to enjoy this game. The idea of the Go-fish yourself game is not to set up pairs. Instead, you will be forcing your peers to set up pairs. Each pair creates a set of funny rules for the participants to follow. If you cannot follow the rules, then you will have to exit the game.

·         Glow in the Dark Frisbee

When the darkness sets in, many campers will be looking forward to going to bed. However, this does not mean the end of camping games for the day. Older children can continue playing as the glow in the dark frisbee brightens the surroundings. You can even make an illuminated nightfall ring toss using glow sticks.

·         Sleeping Bag Relay Races

This game is similar to potato sack relay races, with the only difference being that the sleeping bags. Carry some old sleeping bags and get the children to hop-race up to the finish line. Gift the winner with a packet of s’mores.

·         Yahtzee Board Game

Yahtzee is one of the standard board games that you can play on a flat surface like a picnic table. Players roll 5-dice in turns three times, hoping to make 1 out of 13 categories. However, they do not always achieve this. The game ends once all the participants enter a zero, or a score in all the thirteen categories. The players then compare their scores to identify the winner.

·         Camping Bingo

Camping bingo is a fun game that helps campers to improve their problem-solving skills. Each kid receives a large card, each containing phrases, words, or pictures. While each child gets the same words, they are usually in a different order. Once the supervisor calls out a word, the kids look for the correct square on their card and outline it. The first child to get five words highlighted vertically, horizontally, or in a row becomes the winner.

Summer Camp for Teens

Summer is the best time for your children to attend camp. Various summer camp for teens programs offer a wide range of fun and exciting experiences for the youth. For example, by attending overnight camps your child will learn how to be independent.

An adventure camp, on the other hand, is a great way of creating unforgettable memories. A summer program comes with numerous benefits for your teenagers as we shall see below.

Specially Designed Activities for Teens

Compared to the younger campers, teenagers are mature intellectually, physically, and emotionally. Many times, teenagers prefer being in social engagements and camp activities with their peers.

Many camps in Switzerland offer various events and activities for children depending on their ages. Some of the specially designed activities for teens include water rafting, rock climbing, kayaking, canoeing, and team-building sports.

It’s important to understand that teenagers often experience unique challenges and taking care of them emotionally is critical. Studies show that teenage campers engage and understand activities better when they share their experiences with fellow teens. As a result, you may want to keep the young campers in a different summer camp to avoid these limitations.

A Productive Learning Environment

When older campers attend summer camp for teens they get a chance to enjoy social comfort and physical activity the entire day. Remember, teenagers can remain focused for longer periods compared to young campers. This allows counselors to aim their attention on outdoor activity engagement and skill development.

Being active is critical for a healthy lifestyle. Exposure to new challenges in performing arts camps triggers curiosity in teenagers which encourages them to discover new passions or hobbies.

Teen camps can enhance and covert this attention to mental and physical wellness in a social, fun, and exciting way. Whether your teenage child attends sleepaway camps for teens or a sports camp, they will learn new skills. This will help them cultivate positive social interaction practices within a specially designed environment that promotes their success.

Inclusivity can be difficult if a summer program involves numerous campers of different age groups. This would deny teenagers a chance to be included in their preferred social groups. In summer camps for teens however, every camper gets a chance to participate in the stipulated activities.

At the Les Elfes summer camp, for instance, there are specially designed facilities for the teens. Onsite supervisors have created teen-focused activities to keep the children active throughout the camp experience. Staffs here are friendly and enthusiastic which helps create a fun and inclusive environment for the campers.

Learning to Appreciate Small Things

Being away on overnight camps means that campers will be unable to enjoy the comforts of being at home. This camp experience helps the teen appreciate the things they often take for granted.

These include mobile gadgets, television, serene bathrooms with warm running water, and a fridge full of food. Through this, the child will realize that life in their homes isn’t as bad as they may think.

Further, the experience is enough to help them understand that they only need a few things to be happy. These include caring parents, a warm bed, few trustworthy friends, and healthy meals.

Teenagers who often take their parents for granted will have a change of perception on spending some days in a teen summer camp. After the summer experience, you’ll notice that the teens will appreciate your gestures such as preparing their favorite meals.

Accountability, Responsibility, and Independence

A teen-oriented outdoor adventure can be an ideal place where teenagers learn how to do things independently. Here, they’ll be far from their parents or guardians. This means they’ll have to choose healthy meals, remember to brush their teeth and shower, and even wear sunscreen.

Getting used to summer camp teen programs can be difficult at first. However, the children will be in the company of their peers and this makes learning and coping easier. The young people will be tasked with new responsibilities that will help them grow.

Camp supervisors and directors will be ready to monitor and ensure that teens understand what needs to be done. Some teens are more dependent than others. Still, being under a camp program helps boost their self-reliance and independence.

What’s more, they will go back home with a different attitude towards doing daily tasks. Further, supervisors at the best summer camps ensure that every camper is responsible for their actions.

Enhances Teamwork

A great teen summer camp would be one that offers various day programs. Still, this camp should provide a wide range of activities for the campers. Such a summer experience provides a good environment for your teenager founded on shared values. These include curiosity, accountability, and acceptance.

Whether your teen will be attending an overnight or day camp, your child will learn how to collaborate with their peers. They will also enjoy developing different skills with teenagers from different countries, backgrounds, and cultures.

Campers at the Les Elfes summer camp work together to execute various tasks. These include: cleaning their cabins, teaching their peers new skills such as paddling a canoe and participating in community service plans.

Children in a teen summer camp should learn how to work together with their peers and adults. This way, they’ll become productive members of their teams.

Helps Teens Develop a Unique Interest

Teen summer camps provide an ample environment where high school students can engage in diverse activities outside the school setup. These include entrepreneurship and archery.

Has your teenager shown interest in engaging in different subjects out of sports or the school’s curriculum? If they have, various camps offer a vast range of subjects and activities.

These include visual arts, video games, and rafting. Summer camps for teens offer a great disturbance-free alternative environment and gives them time to discover new interests.

Bonding with new campers can be difficult even for children who’ve been to a YMCA overnight camp before. However, great academic programs make it easy for teens to interact and make new friends.

Teenagers have an easy time sharing small spaces with their peers. Living together in the summer camp cabins helps strengthen friendships. This helps campers learn fundamental life skills, and encourages them to appreciate people from different communities.

Once the summer camp is over, campers will have made friends from different backgrounds. Often, sleepaway camps give teenagers a chance to expand from their traditional group of friends and help them connect with others positively.

Allows them to Exercise

Technology today takes center stage in the upbringing of modern-day youth. Many parents take advantage of summer camp to ensure that children stay away from their gadgets. While on camp, many teenagers get a chance to engage in various physical and educational activities.

These include performing arts sessions and creative writing classes. Assuming your child is an athlete, for example, a sports camp would be ideal to keep them occupied. Parents whose teens are yet to establish their preferred sport can consider a day camp that helps campers engage in something new.

Provides Mental Stimulation

With the ongoing Covid-19 global pandemic, many schools are closed. This has denied children a chance to engage in physical activity.

Once the pandemic is controlled and teenagers can finally leave the house, parents should consider sending them to a summer camp. This will help them engage in both physical and mental activity. Does your child enjoy video games or visual arts?

Have you been searching for a way to keep them off their gadgets and into more mind stimulating courses or activities? If you do, a summer experience could be what your child needs to become innovative.

A camp experience gives your teen a chance to transition from school to extracurricular activities. It’s worth noting that different environments are critical for child development.

By attending camp, children will become self-confident and independent. Apart from acquiring new skills, they will also make new friends.

How to Create a Memorable Summer Kids Best Camp Program

Are you planning a summer kids camp trip for your students? If yes, it’s important to have a proper plan of action. First, determine the camping location, and decide whether or not the trip will be on a day time or overnight program.

Should you settle for an overnight camp, there will be numerous other things to consider. These include accommodation and meals. If the majority of the participants prefer a day camping option you’ll need to hire a reliable transportation service. Further, you’ll have to get volunteers who will be tasked with supervising the kids. The final step will be calculating the total amount each participant should contribute.

What other factors should you consider? Read on to find out. We’ll also establish why you should go summer camping in Switzerland.

What to Include in Your Summer Kids Camp Program

·         Camp Games

Assuming the summer kids camp will be an overnight stay, you’ll want to have enough activities to keep the kids occupied. Remember, these should be different from the main theme in your program. Choose fun and interesting indoor games depending on the kid’s ages.

The kids can participate in some of these activities in the evening around a campfire. These can include storytelling, stargazing, and engaging in nighttime photography.

Some of the activities the kids can enjoy during the day include scavenger hunting, relays, and sack racing. Games are simple and precise strategies that you can use to help the kids relax. They also help the children bond while encouraging them to work together as a team.

·         Summer Kids Camp Themes

When you’re planning a summer kids camp trip, have a child-friendly theme. This will help the participants know what to expect from the. Sharing the theme early enough helps participants make changes depending on their needs and expectations.

Some themes you can include in your program include adventure, swimming, fishing, art and craft, and hiking. You can have the kids choose their themes in advance. This will help you decide what you should amend or eliminate.

·         Assign Free Time

Usually, summer kid’s camping events are attended by many children from different parts of the world. Still, you want to include free time in the program. Kids can use this time to meditate, connect with themselves, or make new friends.

One of the best ways children can use their free time is by writing their opinion about summer camp. They can even have a diary where they write their daily activities. Remember, summer is the time when you should let the children free to do things on their own. However, you should encourage them where necessary.

·         Include a Special Day

Consider including a special day in your summer kids camp program. This can be a get-together party, or a talent and cultural day. Here, kids will get a chance to showcase their tradition and culture and learn about other cultures too. For the talent day, kids will be tasked with showcasing their skills such as dancing, playing the guitar, painting, and singing.

·         Counselors

When planning a summer kid’s camp program, consider having doctors and counsellors on board. Some camps have them on board, meaning you don’t have to outsource them while camping.

This is one of the reasons you should consider camping in Les Elfes. The camp that runs round the year has been in existence for more than 30 years. Campers enjoy a wide range of fun and exciting activities. What’s more, the staffs strive to give campers a memorable experience.

Why are counsellors and doctors important for a summer kids camping trip? Sometimes kids will experience homesickness especially if they’re camping for the first time. Some kids who perform dismally in camp may be depressed and this is where a counsellor or doctor comes in.

These experts play a huge role in helping the kids feel comfortable. Counsellors also observe children’s behavioral patterns and collaborate with the organizers to bring out the best in a kid. This helps boost the quality of the summer kid camp experience.

·         Adventure Sports

Adventure sports are interesting and fun activities that children look out for when camping. Include various sports such as river crossing, rock climbing, paragliding, and snorkeling in your summer kids camp program. These adventurous sports require specialized equipment which you can buy.

However, you don’t have to go through the hassle of choosing the best equipment for your kids. Les Elfes has this equipment which you can hire for reasonable prices. Remember, kids will need supervision while engaging in these sports. The camp has qualified experts but you can also bring your preferred supervisor.

Ensure children only participate in sports they like. Rather than forcing them to participate in activities, they are scared of, encourage them. This can help enhance their morale to participate. You can also allow them to participate in the activity under the supervision of an adult. This will help improve their confidence.

·         Art Day

An art day is a must-have in a summer kids camp. Children can learn painting, pottery, and even drawing. You can encourage the kids to decorate parts of the camp depending on their preferences. Further, you could organize an exhibition to showcase different crafts made by the children. A summer kids camp gratitude string or wall can also come in handy. Hang all the crafts the kids make on the string or tape them along the wall. Use colorful clips to achieve an appealing end result.

Summer gives children a short-term relief from the structured model of learning. This allows them to attend and enjoy fun and exciting opportunities at summer camp. While boys and girls summer camp is different from a classroom setup, children can still develop intellectually.

By attending summer camp, your child can acquire physical, emotional, and cognitive development benefits. Let’s discuss how your child can get the most out boys and girls summer camp.

Finding the Proper Summer Camp for Your Child

With summer camps becoming popular by the day, many guardians and parents struggle to choose the best one for their children. Here are some tips to help understand how to identify a good camp.

·         Set Your Expectations

Before choosing a summer camp, consider defining what you want your child to achieve. Do you want them to meet and make new friends? Perhaps you want them to become independent or even explore their interests.

Some facilities have specially designed boys and girls summer camp programs. These allow students to interact with other students from different parts of the world. Apart from learning about different cultures, they get a chance to engage in exciting outdoor-related activities together.

Remember, you can make the experience more interesting by involving your children in the planning process. You don’t want to force them into programs they hardly like. If your children are in their teenage stage for example, they may be reluctant to attend if they don’t like the program.

Engage them in conversations and listen for what they love doing. What are their hobbies? Do they enjoy cooking, going for field trips, hiking, or sports? If they do ensure the facility has these lined up in its program.

The main goal should be to get the children happy to attend summer camp by including programs they’re interested in. When you and your child speak in the same language finding the right summer camp becomes an easy task.

·         Do you Prefer Overnight, Day, or Long Camps?

How old is your child? Are they comfortable with being far from home? If your child is younger then day camps would be ideal. For older children, you can either choose overnight or night camps.

All these allow your children to socialize, play sports, and learn new skills. However, if your child is old enough and comfortable with being away from home prolonged summer camp trips can be ideal. These allow the children to explore more activities together that help them develop independence.

·         Determine your Budget

Prices vary from one summer camp to the other. Don’t let the prices discourage you from enrolling your child in one. Think of a boys and girls camp as an investment. Children can achieve a lot from participating in a summer camp vacation as we’ve seen above.

While some camps can be expensive, the short term and long term benefits your child will gain are worth every penny. Many times, pricing reflects the quality of the facility and can be equated to what your child will gain out of it.

Some boys and girls summer camps can be cheap depending on the quality of their services. If you’re working on a budget you can as well look for discounts. Some camping facilities offer customized discounted services that you may want to consider.
