Winter Snow Camp Activities
Les Elfes International Snow Camps
Verbier, Switzerland
Verbier’s 410km of slopes are also available to snowboarders. For first-timers to snow, we recommend starting with skiing to get a feel for the sport.
Verbier’s 410km of slopes are also available to snowboarders to enjoy, for snow beginners however, we recommend skiing as it brings fewer risks of injuries
Les Elfes International Snow Camp is lucky to have a privatized high altitude restaurant only for its campers to enjoy. Located directly on top of the mountain at 2’200m altitude, our private mountain restaurant welcomes our students for warm lunches with unbeatable views on the village of Verbier and some of Switzerland’s famous mountains (Grand Combin, Dents du Midi). During winter camp and summer camp, our kitchen Chefs will prepare warm meals for our young guests that they will be able to enjoy without having to get back to the campus.
At Les Elfes International Snow Camp, the activities do not end after dinner! Our evening programmes are tailored to meet the requirements of our students. Our groups participate in an snow camp activities programme from 8pm until 9pm and our older groups from 8pm until 9:45pm, with bedtime at 10pm.
Evening Activities aim to help campers develop their teamwork, public speaking, leadership, and communication skills. Examples of activities include Torchlight walks, campfires and marshmallows, The Apprentice (or Shark Tank for Americans), blind tests and quizzes, casino nights, baking, ice skating, creating music videos, bowling, disco night, and much more. Every evening is different, ensuring a varied experience for our young campers.
After returning from their afternoon activities and enjoying a refreshing shower at around 16:30, campers participating in Les Elfes Snow Camp have three exciting options for a 1.5 to 2-hour flexi-time before dinner. They can explore the charming village of Verbier, discover local shops, and admire the beautiful chalets of the resort. Alternatively, they can join our animators for fun activities like ice skating, sledging, climbing, bracelet making or swimming. For those who prefer to relax, our campus offers a games room, a cinema room, and, during summer, a trampoline for some thrilling jumps!
A little closer to home, in Verbier itself, our highest mountain Mt Fort stands at 3330 m above sea level. Stunning views from the top looking over to the Matterhorn in Zermatt and Mont Blanc in Chamonix, campers of our Snow Camp this year will be able to do a zip line, not for the faint-hearted and ideal for those adrenaline seekers! The Zip-Line is one of the largest in Europe, and it speeds up to 100kmph, reached in no time at all.
To ensure we offer the best possible tuition for our winter snow camp students, we work in partnership with Verbier Language School to offer specialist teachers in each language for every course.
Students are grouped according to their language levels,, with a maximum class size of 8 students per teacher. Three types of courses, Conversational, Intensive, and Private, are available in French, English, Spanish, German, and Mandarin (Mandarin is only available in Summer).
Each of our courses during our summer and winter snow camp in Switzerland follows set criteria for levels of language proficiency, with detailed certificates and a portfolio of work which students may take away with them.
Conversational Language Course In A Swiss Winter Camp Setting
During winter camp, the course consists of 6 hours per week from 17:00 to 19:00 on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. During summer camp, languages are given in the morning and are typically taught over four days from 9:00 to 10:45
Intensive Language Course
For more in-depth learning, the intensive language course combines speaking with reading and writing. During winter snow camp, the intensive course consists of an additional 2 hours given on Fridays from 17:00 – 19:00. Summer camps’ intensive classes take place from 09:00 -12:00, totalling 12 hours per week. It is ideal for students studying for an exam or wishing to make quick, comprehensive progress in their languages in just one week.
Private Language Course
Our final course is for those students who wish to have one-on-one tuition. This can be added to one of our other courses or chosen alone to allow any number of weekly hours. The focus is flexible, and it is a great course for students with specific learning objectives.
During Les Elfes International Snow Camp, why not try the experience of a paragliding flight over the Bagnes Valley?
It is suitable for children of all ages, from 6 to 17. During the about 40-minute flight, the students will fly over the Bagnes Valley, passing from 2200 m to 800 m.
